Position Summary

This position is responsible for providing leadership, direction, and administration in all aspects of the Neurosciences Institute, Critical Care Nurse Practitioners, Critical Care Services (Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit).  Responsibilities include ensuring overall operational and strategic goals at the department level and MemorialCare-Saddleback Medical Center strategic goals. This position also offers guidance, support and leadership for RN scope of practice at the Advanced Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Center.

This position is accountable at the strategic level to plan, organize, direct and further develop Critical Care Services, Neurosciences Institute and Advanced Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Center; to include but not limited to: the designation as an Orange County-Emergency Medical Services, Emergency and Stroke Receiving Center and receive national accreditation through approved accreditation agency for Neurosciences.  The position will be accountable to maintaining hospital compliance with regulatory standards, benchmarking programs and performance improvement initiatives. Requires strong working knowledge of performance improvement tools and methodologies, and effective analytical, organizational, and communication skills with ability to direct projects and assist with team building.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications:

·         At least five years progressive management experience in an acute care hospital setting preferred.

·         Experience in emergency and critical care/neurosciences preferred.

·         Comprehensive knowledge of regulatory requirements for areas of responsibility (e.g. TJC, DHS, Conditions of Participation)

·         Demonstrated ability to develop and implement successful strategic plans, new programs and services.

·         Deep understanding of financial strategies and finance related performance metrics.

·         Strong aptitude for verbal and written communication, presentation and interpersonal development.

·         In-depth knowledge of best practices in management and governance.

·         Experience in quality improvement theory, HRO, change theory, adult learning principles, and team building

·         Effective problem solving skills

·         Ability to relate to a variety of professionals in the Critical Care setting.

·         In-depth knowledge of best practices in management and governance.

Education/Licensure/Certification:

·         Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing required.

·         Master of Science Degree in Nursing Administration or related field, preferred.

·         Possession of a valid California License as a Registered Nurse
