Are you looking for an opportunity to advance your career while working with an extraordinary team?  At Merakey, we put heart and soul into everything we do. We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN)to join our team at our program in Norfolk, VA.     

  • Starting rate of $47.30 per hour with full benefits or $49.30 per hour with the enhanced pay option. Includes mileage reimbursement.
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM, plus rotating on-call coverage on consecutive days and weekend community coverage.

The Registered Nurse (RN) is a vital member of the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team, delivering recovery-oriented, person-centered care to individuals with serious mental illness in the community. This role blends clinical skill, crisis response, and collaboration to support clients in achieving stability, independence, and improved quality of life.

  • Provide recovery-based, person-centered nursing care through individual and group interventions supporting mental health, daily living skills, and community functioning.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments, monitor symptoms and treatment response, and collaborate on individualized treatment planning with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Deliver medication education, monitoring, and administration while addressing clients’ physical health needs.
  • Support crisis intervention efforts and provide real-time clinical guidance in community-based settings.
  • Coordinate care with psychiatrists, families, and community agencies while serving as a client advocate and liaison.

The ACT team is a multidisciplinary group dedicated to supporting adults with serious mental illness (SMI) through community-based services, including therapy, medication management, and resource linkage. Services are primarily delivered in the community, with clients receiving at least three home visits per week. The RN contributes to a holistic approach to care, helping clients integrate into society while ensuring their basic needs and treatment goals are met. Frequent travel (50-90%) is required, and personal vehicle use for client transportation may be necessary.

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing school and possess active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania
  • 2 years clinical experience working with individuals with mental illness
  • Knowledge and understanding of recovery principles and working in a recovery driven system
  • Valid Driver’s License
