Through the National School Lunch Program (NSLP), Met Council administers and distributes kosher commodity foods to schools that are members of the state Kosher Co-Op, ensuring member schools have reliable access to that product. As part of Met Council's broader Food Programs team, NSLP requires dedicated management at the operational level: someone who can keep product moving accurately and on time, keep staff and warehouse running smoothly, and keep the numbers straight.

The NSLP Operations Manager leads this work day-to-day — balancing physical operations, logistics, and coordinating across our primary and secondary warehouses. The role partners closely with the NSLP Procurement Manager on inventory and procurement alignment, and with our 3PL partner on distribution, while using Market by Met Council (Salesforce-based) and Excel to keep operations grounded in accurate, reliable data.

Responsibilities

→Manage day-to-day NSLP program operations at our secondary warehouse, collaborating closely with our primary warehouse. This includes building operations processes to support the program’s demands.
→Partner with the NSLP Procurement Manager on product management, order fulfillment logistics, and inbound planning
→Manage and schedule warehouse floor staff, drivers, and vehicles supporting NSLP
→Coordinate inbound deliveries and storage with our 3PL partner
→Use our Salesforce-based ERP, Market by Met Council, to track inventory, manage reports, and flag discrepancies.
→Ensure compliance with food safety, warehouse safety, and NSLP/ NYS OGS and NYS Agriculture and Market requirements
→Troubleshoot operational, logistics, and systems issues as needed and weekly reporting on operational metrics (fulfillment, inventory accuracy, staffing) to leadership.

Strong people-management skills, with experience leading and supporting operational or warehouse staff
Excellent organizational skills, able to plan and prioritize across staffing, logistics, and operational needs simultaneously
Comfortable working hands-on in a technical system as part of daily operations
Project management skills, including follow-up across departments and job titles
Comfortable learning and using new systems and databases as well as using technology to run reports and conduct analyses
Self-starting and independent while able to collaborate on projects and deliverables.
Ability to follow organizational policies, procedures, and compliance requirements
Consistently demonstrates professionalism, accountability, and dependability in the workplace.

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent relevant work experience accepted
Minimum of 2 years of experience in warehouse operations, logistics, distribution, or a related operational environment
Minimum of 2 years of experience managing or supervising staff
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, including using spreadsheets for operational tracking, reporting, and data analysis
Experience using Salesforce or another CRM, ERP, inventory management, or similar operational system
Valid driver's license preferred; CDL a plus

Occasional travel among Met Council office locations and network agencies is required around the five boroughs, typically using public transport.
Comfort working in a shared warehouse office environment.

Compensation: $60,000 - $70,000 per year.
