Responsibilities
~1 min readAs a Field Service Specialist - Process Analytics, you will apply your technical expertise to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair Metrohm process analytical instrumentation throughout your assigned territory. You will serve as a trusted partner to customers, helping resolve technical, application, and product-related issues while ensuring optimal system performance and reliability.
This position is based in the Portland, Oregon area and supports customers throughout Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Montana. Frequent travel within the territory is required.
- Install, commission, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair Metrohm process analytical systems.
- Diagnose and resolve customer instrumentation, application, and product-related issues.
- Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, upgrades, and system optimization activities.
- Conduct equipment testing and verification to ensure optimal performance.
- Review schematics, wiring diagrams, technical drawings, and service documentation to support troubleshooting and repairs.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers through responsive and professional service.
- Understand customer processes, operational requirements, and application needs.
- Evaluate customer challenges and recommend practical technical solutions.
- Deliver refresher training and operational support to end users as needed.
- Act as a trusted advisor to ensure customer satisfaction and long-term success.
- Investigation, document, and track service activities, equipment issues, and application concerns using Metrohm service management tools.
- Maintain accurate service records and report documentation.
- Identify opportunities to improve service quality, operational efficiency, and customer experience.
- Support quality initiatives and best practices across the service organization.
- Mentor and support developing Field Service Specialists.
- Share technical knowledge, troubleshooting techniques, and best practices across the organization.
- Assist with onboarding and technical development initiatives as needed.
Requirements
~1 min read- Frequent travel is required to customer sites within the assigned territory of OR, WA, MN, and ID
- Overnight travel may be required based on customer needs, installations, training, and project schedules.
- National and international travel possible.
- Must pass pre-employment background check, education and employment verification, a 10-panel drug screening (including marijuana), and a clean driving record.
- Associate degree in Process Analytical Instrumentation, Instrumentation Technology, Electronics, Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum four (4) years of experience supporting process analytical instrumentation or industrial instrumentation systems.
- Strong electrical, electronic, and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, technical diagrams, and service documentation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in customer-facing environments.
Nice to Have
~1 min read- Experience supporting process analyzers and instrumentation within:
- Semiconductor manufacturing
- Refining and petrochemical facilities
- Chemical manufacturing
- Industrial process environments
- Strong chemistry background and understanding of analytical measurement principles.
- Experience with analyzer calibration, process optimization, root cause analysis, and complex technical troubleshooting.
- OSHA Area Council Basic Safety Training certification or comparable industrial safety training.
- You enjoy solving complex technical problems in the field.
- You provide exceptional customer support while building long-term relationships.
- You can quickly diagnose issues and confidently recommend solutions.
- You have a strong technical foundation combined with practical field experience.
- You enjoy mentoring others and helping team members develop their technical skills.
- You are self-motivated, organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities.
