At Mighty Animation, we’re looking for an Art Director to lead the visual development of an exciting new project with a strong hyperrealistic visual approach.

This role will be responsible for defining and maintaining the project's artistic vision, guiding artists and supervisors, collaborating closely with production and creative leadership, and ensuring that the final visual quality aligns with both client expectations and project goals.

We are especially interested in artists who are excited about exploring modern creative workflows, including the thoughtful integration of AI-assisted tools for visual development, ideation, and look exploration.

Responsibilities

Art Direction & Leadership

• Define and maintain the project’s visual style and artistic guidelines.
• Guide artists through visual explorations and creative problem-solving.
• Build and maintain the project’s Art Bible, references, and style documentation.
• Ensure the visual direction is scalable and efficient for production timelines and animation pipelines.
• Support the development of a cohesive hyperrealistic visual language across all assets and sequences.

Team Management

• Provide ongoing artistic feedback and mentorship to the team.
• Prepare briefs and artistic direction for tasks related to the art department.
• Review and approve artistic deliverables.
• Collaborate with production and supervisors to prioritize tasks and maintain quality standards.
• Foster a collaborative and solution-oriented creative environment.

Client Collaboration

• Participate in reviews, presentations, and creative discussions with clients.
• Translate client feedback into actionable artistic direction for the team.
• Analyze references and visual materials to align expectations and execution.

Internal Communication & Coordination

• Lead art kick-offs, reviews, and alignment meetings.
• Maintain close communication with Creative Leadership, Production, and Art Supervisors.
• Attend project-related meetings and creative syncs as needed.

Requirements & Skills

Experience

• Proven experience leading artistic teams in animation, games, VFX, or audiovisual productions.
• Strong portfolio showcasing high-end visual development and versatility across styles, especially hyperrealistic work.
• Advanced understanding of composition, lighting, color, cinematography, and visual storytelling.
• Experience developing scalable workflows for production environments.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted creative tools and emerging visual development workflows is considered a strong plus.
• Strong communication skills in English and Spanish.
