Behaviour Interventionist - Abbotsford

As a Behaviour Interventionist (BI) at Monarch House your primary responsibility is implementing programs designed and supervised by a senior clinical team (of speech pathologists, by a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst® BCBAs, Occupational therapists and physical therapists) to clients receiving services from Monarch House. You will work within an interdisciplinary team to support skill acquisition and/or decrease maladaptive behaviors while providing an engaging and positive client experience in a fast paced and frequently changing environment.

• →Responsible for implementing programs based on best practices.
• →Uses systematic methods and behavioural strategies to support client in changing their behaviour
• →Contributes to the development of programs established by the clinical team to teach and reinforce a variety of skills for children and youth in a 1:1 and/or small group setting
• →Understand the functions of behavior and responds appropriately and safely when situations arise
• →Adhere to all clinical training, procedures, and protocols
• →Ability to adapt to changing conditions and/or routine and provide creative solutions
• →Responsible for creating a positive and engaging environment for the client
• →Support clients with personal care tasks such as dressing, toileting, and eating
• →Responsible for maintaining the well-being and safety

• →1-2 years experience working with children and youth with complex needs and/or developmental disabilities
• →Pursuing or completed education in Psychology, Speech or linguistics, occupational therapy or kinesiology.
• →Education and demonstrated ability in ethical and professional practice
• →Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening within the last 6 months
• →Ability to travel within the community
• →Strong verbal and written English communication skills

• Minimum 1 year experience working with the pediatric population is a plus
• Enrollment in or degree from a post-secondary program of Psychology, Educational Psychology, Special Education or another related field is an asset
• Autism Spectrum Disorder specific coursework, training or workshops an asset
• Experience working with clients who have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder or other developmental disabilities
