To provide hands-on operational, warehouse, and facility support to ensure the safe, efficient, and consistent manufacture of high-quality animal feed products. The General Worker performs production, warehouse, and groundskeeping duties as needed to maintain smooth operations.
Production Support
- Assist in the feed manufacturing process, including material loading, bagging, stacking, labeling, and palletizing.
- Support start-up, shutdown, and cleaning activities under supervision of the Production Operator.
- Follow production schedules, work orders, and supervisor instructions to maintain efficiency.
- Monitor equipment visually and report any unusual noises, leaks, or safety hazards immediately.
- Handle feed products carefully to prevent contamination, spillage, or damage.
- Maintain good housekeeping within production and blending areas, ensuring compliance with GMP and 5S standards.
- Assist with in-process cleaning and sanitation to meet food safety and HACCP requirements.
Warehouse & Logistics Assistance
- Receive, unload, and verify incoming raw materials, packaging, and supplies against delivery documentation.
- Deliver stock and packaging materials to production areas as requested.
- Safely load and offload finished feed onto delivery vehicles according to dispatch schedules.
- Maintain organized, clearly labeled storage areas for raw materials and finished goods.
- Record material movement accurately in warehouse logs or digital tracking systems.
- Assist with inventory counts and reconciliation activities.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, or other material-handling equipment safely (where licensed).
- Ensure all loading/unloading follows proper stacking, weight, and transport safety procedures.
Grounds & Facility Maintenance
- Maintain cleanliness and order of the mill’s outdoor and surrounding areas, including yard, driveways, receiving bays, and perimeters.
- Sweep, shovel, or vacuum grain spills, dust, and debris from work zones.
- Mow lawns, trim vegetation, manage weeds, and ensure proper drainage by clearing gutters and internal roadways.
- Assist in general maintenance and facility upkeep such as painting, minor repairs, or waste removal.
- Support pest control and biosecurity activities as directed.
- Report facility damages, unsafe conditions, or hazards promptly to management.
General Duties
- Clean and sanitize production areas, equipment, and tools following safety and manufacturer requirements.
- Participate in daily housekeeping, corrective maintenance, and improvement activities.
- Perform manual labor tasks such as lifting, carrying, and moving materials between departments.
- Follow supervisor or manager instructions and work cooperatively with team members across departments.
- Participate in toolbox talks, safety briefings, and required training sessions.
- Perform any other duties reasonably assigned by the Production, Logistics, or Maintenance Managers.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 1–2 years’ experience in manufacturing, warehouse, or maintenance environments (feed, food, or agricultural industry preferred).
- Forklift license or willingness to obtain certification (asset).
- Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to learn operation of simple machinery and tools.
- Physically fit and able to lift up to 25 kg regularly and perform outdoor work in varying conditions.
