Their R&D and manufacturing environment includes energetics, cryogenics, high-pressure systems, reactive metal powders, and controlled goods. The Environmental, Health, Safety and Security Specialist owns the environmental, health, safety, and security programs across their facilities.
Responsibilities
~1 min readYou will develop, implement, and maintain EHS and security programs, ensure regulatory compliance, reduce workplace risk, and foster a strong safety culture while protecting people, flight hardware, and intellectual property. The role splits time between the office and the manufacturing floor, with occasional travel between sites.
- →Develop and continuously improve EHS policies and programs under Ontario OHSA and its regulations (O. Reg. 851, O. Reg. 297/13, WHMIS 2015)
- →Conduct routine workplace inspections, job hazard analyses, and risk assessments
- →Lead incident investigations including critical injury reporting to MLITSD, maintain injury and illness records, support WSIB claims and return-to-work planning
- →Support and/or chair the Joint Health and Safety Committee
- →Coordinate emergency response planning, fire drills, evacuation procedures, and spill response
- →Manage Environmental Compliance Approvals and reporting under the Ontario EPA and CEPA, including hazardous waste handling, storage, and disposal per O. Reg. 347
- →Deliver EHS training including WHMIS 2015, Working at Heights, Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space, and Forklift, and coach frontline supervisors
- →Conduct internal audits, support MLITSD and MECP inspections, maintain SDS, permits, and compliance documentation
- →Maintain the physical security program, access control, visitor management, surveillance, badge management, and after-hours protocols
- →Administer the Controlled Goods Program registration and compliance, and manage personnel security screening for employees, contractors, and visitors
Requirements
~1 min read- Diploma or degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field
- 3 to 5+ years of EHS experience in an Ontario manufacturing or industrial environment
- Solid working knowledge of Ontario OHSA, WHMIS 2015, WSIB processes, and environmental legislation (EPA, O. Reg. 347, CEPA)
- Experience conducting incident investigations, risk assessments, and internal audits
- Effective communicator who can deliver training, coach supervisors, and engage with regulatory and law enforcement bodies
- Legally authorized to work in Canada and eligible for registration under the Canadian Controlled Goods Program
Nice to Have
~1 min read- EHS experience in aerospace, defence, energetics, or chemical manufacturing
- Prior CGP administration experience
- Background in physical security, access control, and personnel screening
