Director of eCommerce & Product Marketing

We are seeking a Director of eCommerce & Product Marketing to own the online customer experience, digital merchandising strategy, product commercialization, and conversion optimization efforts for a growing DTC ecommerce brand.
This role sits at the intersection of ecommerce management, digital merchandising, product marketing, CRO, customer experience, and launch execution. The position is responsible for ensuring products are clearly presented, easy to understand, optimized for conversion, and continuously improved throughout their lifecycle.
This is not a paid media role. Traffic acquisition is handled separately. The focus of this role is maximizing the performance of the website experience, improving product presentation, increasing conversion rates, and helping customers make confident purchase decisions.
Responsibilities
~1 min readServe as the internal owner of the ecommerce storefront experience
Analyze customer behavior, conversion funnels, heatmaps, and website performance
Identify friction points and optimization opportunities throughout the customer journey
Develop and manage an ongoing CRO testing roadmap
Partner with developers to implement website improvements and new functionality
Improve conversion rates, average order value, and customer experience metrics
Own product presentation and merchandising strategy across the website
Improve navigation, collections, filtering, bundling, and cross-sell experiences
Simplify product configuration and purchasing decisions
Continuously optimize PDPs and key revenue-driving pages
Ensure product information is clear, accurate, and conversion-focused
Translate product features into compelling customer-facing benefits
Develop messaging that addresses customer concerns and purchase objections
Create buying guides, comparison tools, FAQs, educational content, and product education assets
Improve customer confidence throughout the buying journey
Support ongoing optimization of product storytelling and positioning
Lead digital go-to-market execution for new products and product updates
Define launch requirements, timelines, and deliverables
Coordinate launch execution across internal and external stakeholders
Ensure all launch assets are completed accurately and on schedule
Maintain launch readiness across product, content, and ecommerce teams
Define asset requirements for product launches and ongoing optimization efforts
Develop briefs for photographers, videographers, designers, and editors
Ensure creative assets support both conversion goals and brand standards
Maintain a proactive asset production pipeline
Requirements
~1 min read5+ years of experience in ecommerce management, digital merchandising, product marketing, digital product management, or related disciplines
Proven experience managing ecommerce experiences for physical consumer products
Strong understanding of customer psychology, ecommerce analytics, and conversion optimization
Experience owning website merchandising, customer journeys, and digital product presentation
Experience leading cross-functional ecommerce projects
Strong project management and stakeholder communication skills
Ability to move between strategic planning and hands-on execution
Experience developing customer-facing product messaging and educational content
Experience working with product launches and commercialization initiatives
Strong understanding of ecommerce performance metrics and revenue optimization
Nice to Have

Experience within furniture, home goods, home organization, premium consumer products, or similar categories
Experience directing designers, photographers, videographers, and developers
Experience building and managing CRO testing programs
Experience working within founder-led ecommerce businesses
Experience with heatmaps, analytics tools, A/B testing platforms, and modern ecommerce technology stacks
