The Program Manager serves as the primary onsite leader responsible for the day-to-day operations, management, programming coordination, and community engagement activities of the Discovery & Innovation Hub (DIH) located within the Mount Sinai Harlem Health Center.

 

Reporting to the Director of DIH, the Program Manager ensures the DIH operates as a dynamic, welcoming, and highly functional innovation ecosystem that supports students, faculty, entrepreneurs, community partners, and external collaborators. This role combines program management, operational leadership, stakeholder engagement, and facility coordination to advance DIH's mission of fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, workforce development, and community-centered impact.

 

The Program Manager is expected to maintain a consistent onsite presence at the DIH office located at the Mount Sinai Harlem Health Center and serve as the primary point of contact for all activities taking place within the DIH.

 

Role Context within OPED 

Embedded within OPED’s Academic Community & Culture Core, DIH functions as a shared institutional resource aligned with MedEd, GSBS, GME, Faculty Affairs, and community partners. The Program Manager contributes to: 

  • Supporting the integration of DIH programs with OPED’s broader professional engagement strategy 
  • Facilitating operational and administrative execution of innovation, digital health engagement, and community partnership initiatives 
  • Enabling cross-functional alignment and communication across institutional stakeholders 
  • Ensuring program activities are executed effectively and meet quality and impact expectations 
  • Serve as the onsite manager of the Discovery & Innovation Hub (DIH) physical office space located at the Mount Sinai Harlem Health Center, ensuring the space remains operational, welcoming, organized, and responsive to stakeholder needs.
  • Oversee day-to-day DIH space operations, including facility coordination, room scheduling, space utilization, visitor management, inventory, technology, vendor relationships, and operational workflows.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute DIH programs, workshops, fellowships, speaker series, community engagement initiatives, and special events, ensuring a high-quality experience for participants and partners.
  • Manage program logistics and administration, including scheduling, communications, registration, documentation, reporting, calendar management, and participant support.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for DIH users, visitors, institutional stakeholders, community organizations, entrepreneurs, and external partners, fostering strong relationships and a collaborative environment.
  • Support outreach, marketing, and engagement efforts in partnership with the Communications Manager to increase awareness, participation, and visibility of DIH programs and initiatives.
  • Track program participation, space utilization, stakeholder engagement, and program outcomes; prepare reports and recommendations to support evaluation, continuous improvement, and strategic decision-making.
  • Support the Director in implementing strategic priorities, operational initiatives, and institutional partnerships that advance DIH's mission and impact.
  • Coordinate administrative processes and compliance requirements related to fellows, scholars, trainees, internships, and other educational and workforce development programs.
  • Collaborate with OPED, faculty leaders, academic programs, and community partners to strengthen the DIH’s role as a center for innovation, entrepreneurship, and community engagement.
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Master’s or advanced degree preferred

 

Experience 

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in program management, operations, community engagement, project coordination, or related fields
  • Experience managing physical spaces, community hubs, coworking environments, innovation centers, educational programs, or community-based initiatives strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, stakeholders, and competing priorities simultaneously
  • Experience working independently while collaborating effectively across teams and organizational levels
  • Experience within healthcare, higher education, entrepreneurship, innovation, workforce development, or community-based organizations preferred

 

Skills & Competencies 

  • Exceptional organizational, project management, and operational coordination skills
  • Strong interpersonal, relationship-building, and customer service abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to create welcoming and engaging environments for diverse stakeholder groups
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, SharePoint, Slack, Canva, TalentLMS, and related collaboration platforms
  • Experience with data tracking, reporting, and program evaluation
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to anticipate operational needs
  • Resourceful, proactive, adaptable, and solutions-oriented
  • Familiarity with innovation ecosystems, entrepreneurship, startups, digital health, or community development initiatives 
  • Commitment to equity, community engagement, and mission-driven innovation

 

Work Location

This is an onsite position based at the Discovery & Innovation Hub located within the Mount Sinai Harlem Health Center. Regular onsite presence throughout the workweek (standard expectation is Monday through Friday from 9am- 5pm) is required to support Hub operations, stakeholder engagement, and program delivery.

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $64,526.72 - $125,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
