The Johns Hopkins Hospital – Bloomberg Children’s Center: Pediatric ICU (PICU)

Level 1 - Designated Burn, Trauma, and Eye center for State of Maryland

Unit description: Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit; Newborn to 21

Schedule: Full-time 13 week contract

Payrate: $60/hr
Responsibilities

Provide specialized nursing care for patients with complex medical conditions, including respiratory failure, metabolic disorders, seizure disorders, multi-organ failure, shock, toxic ingestions, ECMO therapy, and ventricular assist devices (VADs).
Care for patients recovering from or undergoing a wide range of surgical procedures, including general, cardiac, thoracic, transplant, orthopedic, and neurologic surgeries.
Administer and monitor continuous infusions and intermittent medications, including narcotics, vasopressors, diuretics, parenteral nutrition/lipids (PN/IL), IV push (IVP) medications, patient-controlled analgesia (PCA), oral medications, and enteral medications via gastric/jejunal tubes (GT/JT).
Assess, monitor, and respond to changes in patient condition using critical thinking and evidence-based nursing practices.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
Deliver high-acuity patient care in a critical care environment with patient-to-nurse ratios of 1:1 or 2:1, depending on patient acuity and clinical needs.

Responsibilities

2 years of recent PICU experience; including at least 1 travel assignment
Current registered nurse license in the state of Maryland, or licensed in a compact state
Current CPR certification; BLS, PALS, ACLS

Preferred:

Critical Care Certification
Trauma Course
EPIC Experience
