The Program Coordinator supports statewide delivery of MSU-IAT's Food Processing Technology and Safety programs, including the 15-credit pathway, stand-alone certificate, and related microcredentials. The position combines curriculum development, teaching, partner engagement, and program coordination to support high-quality workforce education across Michigan.

Responsibilities

  • Lead ongoing development and refinement of the FPTS curriculum and microcredentials to maintain alignment with industry standards and workforce needs.
  • Develop and maintain shared course materials, including syllabi, LMS content, rubrics, and learning activities, to support consistent delivery across sites and modalities.
  • Work with IAT and partner-college faculty to improve existing courses and develop new modules, microcredentials, and pathway options.
  • Use student outcomes, employment data, and employer feedback to guide curriculum review and continuous improvement.
  • Support instructors with course design, hybrid delivery, and integration of mobile lab learning activities.
  • Teach FPTS courses in person and in hybrid formats at East Lansing and partner community college sites.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community college partners, employers, and workforce agencies to support program growth and workforce alignment.
  • Support recruitment and outreach efforts, with attention to rural, low-income, and nontraditional learners.
  • Help coordinate internships, apprenticeships, and other work-based learning opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the Mobile Lab Manager to align mobile lab deployment with instructional and partner needs.
  • Serve as a central contact for site coordinators, faculty, and staff across FPTS locations.
  • Organize regular cross-site communication and problem-solving meetings.
  • Coordinate program logistics across partner sites and assist with enrollment, completion, credential, and employment reporting.

Masters -Food Science, Food Safety, Agricultural Technology, Agribusiness, Education, Workforce Development or a related field

Requirements

  • Master's degree in food science, food safety, agricultural technology, agribusiness, education, workforce development, or a related field.
  • At least three years of experience in higher education program coordination, workforce development, food processing, food safety, or a related multi-partner setting.
  • Strong project management, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability and willingness to travel regularly across Michigan.
  • Experience in food processing or food safety.
  • Experience with community college, certificate, or workforce training programs.
  • Experience supporting work-based learning.
  • Familiarity with workforce partners and use of program data for improvement.
