MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE 


Responsible for defining and governing the enterprise Configuration Management Database (CMDB) strategy, architecture, and data governance framework across the organisation.

 

The role will lead the design and continuous improvement of the ServiceNow CMDB, Common Service Data Model (CSDM), Asset Management, Integrations, and technology data governance capabilities. The individual will ensure that configuration, application, infrastructure, cloud, service, and asset data remains accurate, trusted, auditable and aligned to business and regulatory requirements.

 

The role acts as the strategic authority for ServiceNow metadata, configuration management standards, service modelling and data quality across the enterprise technology estate.

 

The role requires understanding and implementing solutions that satisfy financial regulations such as DORA, PRA and Operational Resilience requirements.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


·         Define and maintain the Regional & EMEA CMDB strategy, roadmap and operating model

·         Define and maintain the EMEA CMDB strategy, roadmap and operating model

·         Lead the design and implementation of scalable CMDB data models aligned to ServiceNow best practices and CSDM.

·         Establish architectural standards (such as TBM and BIAN) for business services, applications, infrastructure, cloud platforms and business service mapping.

·         Ensure configuration management capabilities support End of Life, Operational Resilience, Financial Reporting, Regulatory Compliance and Risk Management objectives.

·         Drive adoption of service-centric architecture through service modelling and dependency mapping.

  • Define and maintain the enterprise technology data architecture.
  • Design canonical technology data models across CMDB, Asset Management and Architecture domains.
  • Establish technology data standards, taxonomies and metadata frameworks.
  • Define integration patterns and information flows between ServiceNow and enterprise technology platforms.

·         Define governance frameworks, policies and controls for configuration and technology data.

·         Establish governance for application portfolio metadata.

·         Drive ownership of technology services throughout their lifecycle.

·         Support enterprise application rationalisation initiatives.

·         Establish measurable data quality standards, KPIs, KRIs and remediation processes.

·         Lead CMDB health initiatives covering completeness, correctness, compliance and relationship integrity.

·         Chair governance forums focused on inventory data ownership and accountability within ServiceNow.

·         Ensure appropriate ownership is established across services, applications, assets and infrastructure records.

·         Provide architectural leadership for ServiceNow CMDB, Discovery, Service Mapping, IT Asset Management and associated platform capabilities.

·         Define integration standards across Discovery sources including cloud platforms, monitoring tools, asset repositories and infrastructure management systems.

·         Oversee CMDB onboarding and integration of new technologies, applications and cloud services.

·         Ensure platform capabilities are aligned with future business and technology strategy.

·         Partner with Business, Architecture, Asset Management, Infrastructure, Cloud, Cyber and Risk teams.

·         Work closely with senior technology leadership to deliver strategic technology data initiatives.

·         Provide expert consultation on CMDB, CSDM, service modelling and technology governance practices.

·         Influence enterprise-wide technology and data management decisions.

·         Ensure CMDB controls support audit, regulatory and operational resilience obligations.

·         Lead remediation activities associated with audit findings and technology control weaknesses.

·         Maintain governance processes supporting data lineage, ownership and accountability.

·         Ensure all technology inventories maintain an appropriate level of traceability and governance.

·         Develop executive-level reporting and dashboards supporting service health, data quality and configuration governance.

·         Deliver insights on technology estate complexity, risk exposure, lifecycle management and service dependencies.

·         Support management reporting for operational resilience, technology risk and regulatory commitments.


WORK EXPERIENCE


·         Significant experience leading Configuration Management, CMDB or ServiceNow Data Architecture functions within a large enterprise environment.

·         Experience operating within a regulated industry such as Banking, Financial Services, Insurance or Telecommunications.

·         Proven track record delivering large-scale CMDB transformation and CSDM adoption programmes.

·         Experience implementing governance frameworks for enterprise technology data.

·         Strong understanding of application, infrastructure, cloud and service architecture domains.

·         Experience managing complex stakeholder environments across globally distributed organisations.

·         Demonstrable experience supporting internal and external audit requirements.

·         Data & Governance - strong background in:

o    Data Governance

o    Data Quality Management

o    Metadata Management

o    Data Ownership and Stewardship models

·         Technical understanding of:

o    Cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP)

o    Infrastructure platforms

·         Preferred certifications
