Mullins Mechanical is a leader in industrial and large commercial mechanical, plumbing, HVAC construction projects. Our projects are often in the industrial and manufacturing environments, such as manufacturing facilities, automotive plants, chemical plants, distribution centers, warehouses, and other large commercial facilities.  We are a self-performing specialty contractor specializing in design-build applications, HVAC systems, plumbing, process piping systems, boiler and chiller systems, equipment installation and rigging, plant relocation and maintenance, and metal fabrication.  

Responsibilities: 

  • Lead day-to-day project management activities to ensure successful delivery of scope, schedule, budget, safety, and quality objectives. 
  • Schedule and lead project handoff meetings, ensuring all critical job information is gathered prior to execution. 
  • Attend all required on-site customer meetings and serve as a primary point of contact for client coordination. 
  • Ensure client satisfaction while balancing competing demands among scope, time, cost, and field execution needs. 
  • Lead and conduct internal weekly planning and execution meetings with project teams to align priorities and remove roadblocks. 
  • Provide mentorship and training for Assistant Project Managers and Field Engineers, ensuring consistent development and performance. 
  • Manage and protect the contract's scope, including inclusions, exclusions, and clarifications, ensuring alignment with awarded work. 
  • Contractually manage subcontractors and coordinate scopes with field leadership. 
  • Collaboratively price, negotiate, and formalize changes in project scope, ensuring timely approval and documentation. 
  • Provide formal Communication such as but not limited to; Notices of Delay to document external schedule impacts to Owners, General Contractors, and subcontractors. 
  • Assist and facilitate the process of subcontracts, permits, and purchase orders. 
  • Build and actively manage the project schedule with field supervision and update forecasts as required. 
  • Prepare construction budgets from plans/specifications and convert estimates into cost budgets; verify cost code accuracy. 
  • Ensure project financial success through monthly job cost reporting, budget forecasting, and profitability tracking. 
  • Finalize Schedule of Values and prepare monthly owner billing and invoices. 
  • Resolve cost discrepancies using accurate data collection and analysis. 
  • Develop, maintain, and control all project documentation throughout the project lifecycle. 
  • Request purchase orders, manage procurement documentation, and ensure proper tracking of materials and equipment. 
  • Manages projects documentation and ensures all documents are organized including but not limited to; submittals, product documentation, RFIs, meeting minutes, daily reports, and change documentation. 
  • Prepare and maintain Material Status Logs, Equipment Trackers, and productivity tracking logs; update consistently. 
  • Review daily pipe and structural weld reports/inspection reports for accuracy, compliance, and tracking. 
  • Create and distribute RFIs for clarification of project requirements and design intent. 
  • Prepare PMIs (internal running punch lists) and review progress with construction teams. 
  • Oversee BIM coordination to ensure design alignment, constructability, and efficient field execution. 
  • Work collaboratively with APMs, Field Engineers, and Superintendents to ensure manpower, tools, materials, and information are available to meet project schedules. 
  • Manage overall project safety, quality, and productivity in alignment with company and OSHA standards. 
  • Support hiring needs for field personnel and coordinate onboarding with HR. 
  • Review field timesheets for accuracy. 
  • Conduct performance reviews for direct reports annually or more frequently as needed. 
  • Maintain jobsite cleanliness, organization, and professional standards. 
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed. 

Qualifications: 

  • Previous work experience in project management or BS/BA construction management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. 
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, plumbing codes, and process piping standards. 
  • PMP, CCM or design build experience would be considered an asset 
  • Proficiency in project management and construction software, including Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, and NetSuite. 
  • Extensive previous work experience managing budgets for construction projects 
  • Excellent knowledge of construction materials and equipment 
  • Highly organized 
  • Previous experience in a leadership role with strong and proven leadership skills 
  • Knowledge of construction safety and quality standards 
  • Understanding of construction management processes 
  • Ability to work collaboratively and plan ahead 
  • Ability to budget, schedule, negotiate, and control costs 
  • High degree of familiarity with contract and subcontract documents, terms, and conditions 
  • Conflict resolution and conflict management experience 
  • Excellent time management ability 
  • Ability to multitask with a strong understanding of core manager duties 
  • Excellent communication skills and interpersonal abilities 
  • OSHA 30 Certified, First Aid and CPR Certified. 

Essential Job Functions: 

  • Work at heights — including ladders, scaffolds, lifts, platforms, mezzanines, and elevated structures up to and exceeding 100 feet. 
  • Work around moving equipment — such as forklifts, cranes, aerial lifts, skid steers, and other heavy machinery. 
  • Standing and walking for extended periods  
  • Perform physically demanding tasks — including lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, crawling, climbing, and reaching. 
  • Maintain situational awareness in dynamic, noisy, and highhazard environments. 
  • Use required PPE including hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, fall protection, and respiratory protection when applicable. 
  • Work in confined or restricted spaces as required by project scope. 
  • Operate or use hand and power tools safely and effectively. 
  • Follow safety protocols, lockout/tagout procedures, and hazardcontrol measures. 
  • Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and equipment operators using verbal instructions, radios, and hand signals. 

 

Physical Demands: 

  • Lifting and carrying materials and equipment up to 50 lbs frequently 
  • Working on uneven terrain including dirt, gravel, mud, rebar mats, and unfinished surfaces. 
  • Climbing ladders and stairs repeatedly throughout the workday. 
  • Bending, stooping, kneeling, and crouching to perform installation, repair, or inspection tasks. 
  • Repetitive motions including gripping, twisting, hammering, and tool operation. 
  • Full use of hands, arms, legs, and balance to safely navigate job sites and perform tasks. 
  • Visual and auditory acuity sufficient to identify hazards, read instructions, and communicate in highnoise environments. 

 

 

Environmental Conditions: 

  • Yearround outdoor environments including extreme heat, cold, rain, snow, and wind. 
  • Industrial indoor environments such as data centers, manufacturing floors, mechanical rooms, and utility spaces. 
  • Highnoise areas requiring hearing protection. 
  • Dusty, dirty, or fumeproducing environments depending on project scope. 
  • Tight or congested workspaces with multiple trades working simultaneously. 
  • Varying lighting conditions including lowlight or tasklightonly areas. 

 

Cognitive & SafetyCritical Requirements 

  • Maintain alertness and awareness for long periods. 
  • Recognize and avoid hazards including fall hazards, electrical hazards, pinch points, and equipment movement. 
  • Follow written and verbal instructions accurately. 
  • Make quick, safe decisions in changing conditions. 
  • Work independently or as part of a team depending on task needs.
