Summary:
This position is responsible for designing, developing and maintaining Reporting and Business Intelligence (BI) solutions at the MWRA. The Reporting and BI development includes both administrative and operational systems such as Enterprise Asset Management (EAM), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) as well as other data intensive applications. The primary responsibility is report and dashboard development, however data analysis, requirements gathering, query development, testing and documentation are also required activities.

Key Responsibilities
- Develops and maintains traditional paginated reports as well as Business Intelligence objects such as dashboards, universes and other data visualizations.
- Gathers business requirements and translates them into reporting specifications and solutions.
- Creates complex and optimized SQL statements and business class relationships.
- Uses orchestration, ETL and data management tools to prepare data in the reporting data source.
- Creates and maintains business layers to allow users easy access to the data.
- Performs data analysis to verify report results against information source and user expectations.
- Identifies data sources and performs data collection, cleaning and transformation.
- Provides proof of concept analytical analysis on proposed datasets to report sponsor for verification.
- Utilizes application security model to securely access required data.
- Ensures proper use of titles, headers, footers, charts, tables, graphics, and figures.
- Uses sub-reports to include related information not available in primary data set.
- Performs unit, integration, functional, and regression testing.
- Prepares and submits documentation to Change Advisory Board (CAB).
- Coordinates report deployments with sponsors, MIS staff, and CAB.
- Prepares and updates reporting documentation.
- Maintains report version repository.
- Upgrades software as necessary.
- Performs related duties as required.
Required Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field; and
- At least five years IT experience including three (3) years' IT development experience supporting enterprise applications including Infor CloudSuite Birst,IBM Maximo BIRT, SAP, or Crystal Reports; and
- Experience developing SQL queries, views, stored procedures, triggers and functions. developing formatted reports, BI dashboards, BI reports, BI universes and other BI data visualizations; or
- Any equivalent combination of education or experience.
- Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Foundation v3 Certification is required or the ability to obtain within twelve months.
- Position may be eligible for telework up to 50% of the work week.
Knowledge and Abilities
- Expertise with Infor CloudSuite Birst Designer and Visualizer or IBM Maximo BIRT Designer development or SAP Business Objects Crystal Reports and Web Intelligence.
- Ability to create formatted reports and interactive dashboards.
- Experience with relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server, DB2), data warehouses, data marts and data lakes.
- Ability to model data and design, write and optimize complex SQL statements and Stored Procedures.
- Ability to use data management tools and workflows to orchestrate application and other data into the reporting data source.
- Strong knowledge of relational database tables, star schemas, views, triggers, indexes and other database objects.
- Experience with business and security classes.
- Experience with Web Services and APIs is desirable.
- Understanding of the Software Development Life cycle.
- Knowledgeable of scripting or programming languages as well as operating systems.
- Strong analytical skills and detail oriented.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Supervision Received and Exercised
Works under the general supervision of the group supervisor. On specific IT projects, may be supervised by a team lead or project manager.
