Utility Vegetation Tree Trimmer

CVEC is looking for a Utility Vegetation Tree Trimmer in our Arrington, VA office.   The successful candidate will be responsible for cutting/mowing brush, trimming, pruning, and removing trees to prevent them from interfering with utility lines. This position requires a combination of physical labor, technical skills, and adherence to safety protocols.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Operate bucket truck to trim and prune trees and vegetation to clear branches and limbs from utility lines, following industry standards and regulations.
• Safely remove trees that pose a risk to utility lines or infrastructure.
• Operate and maintain various tools and equipment, including chainsaws, pruners, and chippers, buckets, and chipper dump trucks.
• Follow all safety guidelines and protocols to prevent accidents and ensure the safety of the team and the public.
• Inspect trees and vegetation to assess risk and determine the appropriate action needed to maintain clearances.
• Document work performed, including the condition of trees and any issues encountered, and report to supervisors.
• Communicate with property owners and the public about work being performed and help address concerns.
• Maintain reliable and predictable attendance to support operational and business needs.

QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred

Minimum 2 years' experience in vegetation management work practices

Previous experience a plus.

Must have valid Virginia Driver's License

 KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Must be able to lift/carry 50 lbs. or more
• Must be able to work outdoors under varying and sometimes adverse weather conditions.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain first-aid certification and CPR.
• Must be able to wear necessary personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Must obtain a CDL License within 6 months of date of hire and maintain a CDL license adhering to all requirements.
• Must be able to comprehend & effectively execute job instructions/information.
• Must be able to communicate with others.
• Must be able to travel out of town for storm restoration work when needed.
• Proficiency in using tree trimming tools and equipment.
• Familiarity with ANSI A300 trimming and Z133 safety standards.
• Strong understanding of safety practices and procedures.
• Ability to work at heights.
• Must be available for planned and emergency overtime as required

• ISA Certified Tree Worker Aerial Lift Specialist
• ISA Certified Arborist
• ISA Utility Specialist
• ISA Tree Risk Qualification
• CDL License
