Location Eligibility: This role is open to candidates based in the following states: CA, CO, FL, GA, IA, ID, IL, KS, MA, MD, ME, MI, MO, NJ, NV, NY, TN, TX, UT, VA, or WA. Applicants residing outside of these states will not be considered at this time.

About the Role

The Operations Training Manager — Rochester, NY is responsible for building, delivering, and owning the training ecosystem across Nabis operations at the Rochester, NY site. Reporting to the Director of Operations and with a dotted line to the Director of Central Operations, this role leads all training activities, facilitates SOP creation and maintenance, and ensures operational consistency, compliance, and high performance across frontline teams.

This is a leadership role for someone who can translate complex operational processes into clear, learnable frameworks — and who thrives in a fast-paced, evolving environment. The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator, data-driven, highly organized, and capable of influencing at all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all site training activities, including new hire onboarding, role-specific skills training, and ongoing upskilling of existing employees across warehouse functions (inbound, outbound, inventory, transportation, and compliance).
  • Facilitate the creation, documentation, and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), partnering with operations and site leadership to ensure SOPs reflect current processes and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and continuously improve training materials including onboarding guides, job aids, process documentation, and multimedia training content.
  • Set clear performance expectations for quality, safety, accuracy, and compliance — ensuring employees understand both the “how” and the “why” behind operational processes.
  • Observe employee performance on the floor and deliver real-time coaching, feedback, and retraining to reinforce best practices and SOP adherence.
  • Partner with site leadership and Central Operations to assess training needs, identify skill gaps, and design targeted plans that improve productivity, accuracy, and service levels.
  • Track, analyze, and report on training completion rates, certification status, and post-training performance metrics; provide regular updates to the Central Operations Manager.
  • Support operational launches, process changes, and system rollouts by developing and deploying training plans that enable smooth adoption.
  • Ensure all training programs support compliance with state and federal cannabis distribution regulations, safety requirements, and internal audit standards.
  • Maintain organized training records and documentation to support audits, compliance reviews, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Gather and synthesize feedback from trainees, supervisors, and operations leadership to improve training effectiveness and relevance over time.
  • Stay current on operational changes, tools, and industry best practices — updating training content and delivery methods accordingly.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older to work in the cannabis industry
  • 5+ years of experience in training, learning & development, or operations in a warehouse, logistics, or distribution environment
  • 3+ years of experience in last-mile distribution and logistics
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating SOP creation and documentation
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Outstanding communication and people skills
  • Knowledge of manual and systematic warehouse movement
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs., bend, stretch, and twist
  • Monday – Friday on-site availability in Rochester, NY
  • Ability to work occasional weekend shifts

Qualifications

  • Excellent organizational and leadership abilities with experience managing or mentoring others
  • Proven ability to develop and facilitate SOP creation across cross-functional teams
  • Collaborative problem-solving with a process-improvement mindset
  • Detail-oriented, data-driven, and analytically minded
  • Excellent time management skills; comfortable managing competing priorities
  • Low-ego, high-EQ, and adaptable in a fast-moving environment
  • Familiarity with routing-based software platforms
  • Comfortable leading disciplinary and performance conversations with employees
  • Proficiency with MS Office, Google Suite, and business software (ERP, LMS, or CRM a plus)
  • Adept with AI with a strong understanding of prompting and output review
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Video production or editing skills a major plus
