Reliability Engineer (East Tennessee Mines)

Key Accountabilities 

• Lead equipment performance reviews, and identify continuous improvement opportunities for improved equipment reliability 

• Lead formal reviews of catastrophic equipment failure; identify root causes & oversee the development preventative action plans  

• Monitor and steward performance report standards and accuracy 

• Review delay information and provide feedback monthly 

• Establish a monthly meeting with each process team to review performance 

• Provide direction and guidance for the condition monitoring, reliability and engineering standards and strategies for equipment at the mine 

• Oversee the development & improvement of the mines maintenance work management  system 

• Establish models and templates to assist process teams develop good R&M budgeting techniques 

• Assist process team to implement and improve maintenance planning processes and tools 

• Review the delay report for the mine on equipment performance for inconsistencies against targets. 

• Foster effective planning and communications at the mine, by being punctual, prepared and sticking to the agenda at all meetings 

• Input into equipment overhauls to demonstrate areas of poor reliability are reviewed and improvement are included in the work scopes 

• Provide guidance to engineering team on the standards for new and overhauled equipment to achieve targeted reliabilities 

• Recommend and assist to implement a delay & performance reporting system at the mine reviewing the key reliability metrics at the mine 

• Investigate improvements to mine systems to improve equipment reliability (failure modes and effects analysis, reliability centered maintenance)  

• Lead the development & review  of equipment maintenance strategies for new and current site equipment 

• Monitor equipment KPI’s, review and identify opportunities for improvement 

• Benchmark equipment performance and develop improvement action plans 

• Conduct regular audits of the mine’s equipment 

• Facilitate training on site - develop training plans for RCA methodology and reliability improvement principals using internal & external training methodologies 

• Scope system and equipment improvements and establish justification for improvement investigations and solutions 

• Deliver assigned projects relevant to engineering reliability 

• Work in accordance with statutory responsibilities 

• Provide advice and support across the business relevant to your professional area; 

• Actively investigate enhancements to standards, procedures and processes in area of expertise that achieves improvements in safety, reliability, performance, job satisfaction and productivity; 

• Maintain knowledge of best practice within field of expertise, share interesting and useful information across the business, as appropriate; 

• Develop the understanding of others to support and implement engineering improvements and maintain a practical knowledge of the work environment to which engineering support is provided; 

• Develop and maintain positive working relationships with external stakeholders

Qualifications / Requirements 

• Experience in structural / mechanical engineering  

• Experience with auto cad 

• General hoist knowledge  

• General crusher knowledge 

• Ability to set up historical data base from known drawings and literature 

• Trade Base Qualifications  

• SAP Training  

Preferred  

• PE Certified
