About Nebius: Nebius is leading a new era in cloud infrastructure for the global AI economy.

EngineeringElectrical Engineer

Nebius is leading a new era in cloud infrastructure for the global AI economy. We are building a full-stack AI cloud platform that supports developers and enterprises from data and model training through to production deployment, without the cost and complexity of building large in-house AI/ML infrastructure.

Built by engineers, for engineers. From large-scale GPU orchestration to inference optimization, we own the hard problems across compute, storage, networking and applied AI.

Listed on Nasdaq (NBIS) and headquartered in Amsterdam, we have a global footprint with R&D hubs across Europe, the UK, North America and Israel. Our team of 1,500+ includes hundreds of engineers with deep expertise across hardware, software and AI R&D.

The Infrastructure Acquisition Group secures the land, power, and data center capacity that enables the Nebius AI Cloud. We identify where Nebius should grow next, structure the commercial agreements that make that growth possible, and partner across engineering, energy, finance, legal, and development to bring new AI infrastructure online.

We're a small, founding team building this function from the ground up across the Americas, leading the acquisition of colocation, build-to-suit, powered land, and other strategic infrastructure opportunities as one of the world's fastest-growing AI cloud platforms scales.

About the Role

~1 min read

As an Electrical Engineer, you'll provide the technical electrical engineering perspective across the acquisition and development lifecycle — from initial site and deal evaluation through construction readiness. Working within the Infrastructure Acquisition Group, you'll partner with Site Selection, Technical Due Diligence, Development, Energy, Finance, and Delivery to ensure every project's power distribution, utility interconnection, and equipment assumptions are technically sound before they move forward.

This is a build-phase role on a build-phase team. Many of the technical evaluation standards, design criteria, and readiness gates you'll use are still being written — in some cases, you'll help write them. We're looking for someone who can independently assess complex electrical infrastructure while helping build the systems that make every future evaluation faster, more predictable, and more scalable.

  • Lead electrical engineering evaluation of prospective sites, colocation capacity, and build-to-suit opportunities.
  • Own technical assumptions for power distribution topology, capacity, and equipment strategy feeding the pre-construction risk register.
  • Assess utility interconnection, on-site generation, and redundancy strategies (N, N+1, 2N) against site conditions and load requirements.
  • Recommend Go / No-Go input on electrical feasibility as projects advance through key development milestones.
  • Deliver technically validated electrical scope to the Delivery organization with complete documentation and minimized risk.
  • Lead electrical due diligence on prospective sites, existing facilities, and colocation capacity under evaluation.
  • Evaluate utility capacity, interconnection queue position, substation requirements, and on-site generation/UPS strategy against projected IT load.
  • Assess electrical equipment availability, lead times (transformers, switchgear, generators), and vendor constraints that could affect schedule or capex.
  • Ensure electrical assumptions are fully integrated into project budgets, capacity models, and schedules.
  • Partner with Engineering to define power distribution topology and redundancy strategy appropriate to each site and deal structure.
  • Evaluate EPMS/BMS controls integration and electrical system commissioning requirements early in the acquisition process.
  • Provide technical input on switchgear, UPS, and generator selection, redundancy strategy, and capex trade-offs across candidate sites.
  • Ensure electrical design intent is preserved as deals move from negotiation into development.
  • Establish electrical technical readiness criteria as part of project handoff standards.
  • Verify electrical design assumptions, equipment specifications, and capacity commitments are complete before turnover to Delivery.
  • Identify and resolve electrical technical risks before they impact construction.
  • Serve as the primary electrical engineering technical interface across Site Selection, Technical Due Diligence, Development, Energy, and Delivery.
  • Coordinate with consulting engineers, utility providers, equipment vendors, and commissioning agents to validate executable electrical strategies.
  • Align internal stakeholders and external consultants to prevent technical scope drift as projects move from acquisition into development.
  • Ensure every acquisition is grounded in sound electrical engineering judgment before commercial commitment.
  • Deliver predictable, technically validated power distribution and redundancy strategies across the portfolio.
  • Identify and resolve electrical technical risks before they impact construction.
  • Build trusted relationships with utility providers, equipment vendors, consulting engineers, and commissioning partners.
  • Help build the technical standards and evaluation processes the Infrastructure Acquisition Group runs on as it scales.
  • You're comfortable operating in ambiguity and building technical evaluation processes where none exist. You know how to independently assess complex electrical infrastructure while helping define how future projects should be evaluated.
  • 8+ years of experience in data center electrical engineering, power systems design, or mission-critical electrical systems.
  • Experience with medium-voltage distribution, switchgear, UPS systems, generators, and utility interconnection for high-density AI/hyperscale environments.
  • Strong understanding of electrical capacity planning, redundancy topology (N, N+1, 2N), equipment selection, and capex trade-offs in data center design.
  • Experience evaluating electrical feasibility of sites or facilities prior to commercial commitment.
  • Excellent communication and executive presentation skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
