Monday - Friday 40 hour working week. 

Based in Nelson, as a Systems Engineer covering sites from the West Coast through to Blenheim, you will deliver end-to-end technical support across hardware, software, and infrastructure, including troubleshooting and system configuration.

You will be responsible for maintaining reliable performance across desktop, server, cloud, and network environments, ensuring all services meet agreed SLA standards. The role also involves collaborating with internal teams, leading technical initiatives, and supporting and mentoring other engineers.

This position requires travel between sites, so flexibility is important. A company vehicle is available for out-of-town travel.

  • Must be a NZ Citizen or hold permanent residency  
  • Must have a NZ Driver's License (Full or Restricted)  

Responsibilities

  • Provide remote and onsite support for desktop, server, cloud, and network environments
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network issues, including escalations and vendor coordination
  • Configure, deploy, and test PCs, servers, and network equipment; support virtual and cloud platforms (VMware, Hyper-V, O365, Google Workspace, MDM)
  • Ensure system security, performance, and reliability through updates and best practices
  • Lead and deliver technical projects, including desktop deployments, server upgrades, cloud migrations, and network implementations (switches, firewalls, VLANs)
  • Liaise with clients and vendors to resolve issues and support project delivery
  • Act as a key point of contact for clients and stakeholders, providing updates, reports, and technical guidance
  • Support IT planning, incident management, and deliver proactive, customer-focused service
  • Maintain accurate documentation and timesheets, and continuously improve processes and automate tasks

 

  • Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience
  • Industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Fundamentals) preferred
  • Strong knowledge of networking (TCP/IP), security, virtualization, and cloud environments
  • Experience in server and desktop deployment projects (planning and implementation)
  • Excellent communication, time management, and documentation skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle client challenges professionally
