The Manufacturing Cycle Counter is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records by performing routine physical counts of raw materials, work-in-process components, sub-assemblies, and finished goods within a manufacturing environment. This role supports production continuity, inventory accuracy, and effective materials management by reconciling physical inventory to ERP system records and researching variances in a timely and accurate manner.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • →Conduct Daily Counts: Perform physical inventory counts of raw materials, hardware, sub-assemblies, and finished products based on a scheduled cycle.
  • →Audit Production Lines: Verify and reconcile WIP inventory at various stages of the assembly line and within production cells.
  • →Investigate Discrepancies: Research root causes of inventory variances, missing materials, or system errors by reviewing receiving logs and production history.
  • →Document Material Waste: Track, log, and reconcile raw materials damaged, scrapped, or discarded during the manufacturing process.
  • →Update ERP Systems: Input accurate count data into the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system and use handheld RF barcode scanners.
  • →Maintain Safety Standards: Navigate active production zones safely, adhering to all OSHA guidelines and wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

  • Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Experience: 1–2 years of experience in inventory control, cycle counting, or materials handling within a manufacturing or factory environment.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with ERP software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and basic Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Manufacturing Knowledge: Familiarity with Bill of Materials (BOM), production schedules, and basic assembly workflows.
  • Math & Detail Focus: Strong basic arithmetic skills, high data entry accuracy, and strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Certifications: Prior experience or certification operating materials handling equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks) is preferred.
  • Communication: Ability to communicate inventory discrepancies, count results, and process concerns clearly with production, materials, warehouse, and finance teams.
  • Work Style: Reliable, organized, and able to work independently while maintaining a high level of accuracy in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
  • Preferred Qualifications
    • Prior experience using Oracle, SAP, NetSuite, or similar ERP inventory modules.
    • Experience with RF barcode scanners, cycle count programs, or inventory audit processes.
    • Experience working in a manufacturing, warehouse, or production floor environment.
  • Physical Requirements
    • Ability to stand and walk on concrete warehouse floors for up to 8–10 hours per shift.
    • Capability to lift, push, and pull inventory items weighing up to 50 lbs regularly.
    • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with moving machinery, conveyor systems, and fluctuating temperatures.
  • Work Environment
    This position works primarily in a manufacturing and warehouse environment and requires regular interaction with production areas, inventory storage locations, receiving, shipping, and materials teams. The role requires adherence to all company safety policies, use of required personal protective equipment, and awareness of active equipment and material movement throughout the facility.
