This position plays a vital role in assuming primary responsibility for and provides direct and indirect professional nursing care to patients in the Ambulatory Recovery, Pre-operation and Post-operation areas of Oregon Health & Sciences University. Ambulatory Surgery Department is located at the Center for Health and Healing. The Perioperative Services use a primary practice model of care, Primary practice, pre-operative, phase I and II recovery and electroconvulive therapy (ECT). The Registered Nurse (RN) assesses patient's needs, develops the plan of care, implements and evaluates nursing care, provides education and consultation of staff, students, patients and the community.

~1 min readThe CHH Perianesthesia Unit is a department within Perioperative Services within the Nursing Division. CHH Perianesthesia has 25 PACU Bays and 36 Pre/Post Rooms. There are 15 Operating rooms within the surgical department, as well as a Minor Procedure Unit. The daily average volume of patient procedures performed ranges between 30-70 patients in all areas, Monday through Friday. The mission of the department is to provide exemplary, cost-effective care to the procedural and surgical patient, and to serve as a role model for patient care in the Pacific Northwest. This position requires working/floating within the perioperative services units.
Requirements
~1 min read- Minimum of 1 years of recent experience as RN in a critical care setting is required (ER,ICU,CCU or PACU)
- BSN Graduates: Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from a program accredited by Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA) 30 days before start date.
- ADN Graduates: Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program 30 days before the start date.
- Associate degree Nurses required to enroll in BSN program within 3 years of hire and complete within 5 years of hire
- Current, unencumbered Oregon State Registered Nurse License
- BLS from AHA required. New hires will be enrolled and required to complete during orientation.
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation
Length of Orientation – Experienced Nurse
- External candidates: OHSU & Nursing New Employee Orientation (NEO) for about a week.
- Orientation experience for 3 days-26 weeks depending on the care area.
