Continental Europe has a centralized presales organization. This presales team works on opportunities across the region, with people working across borders. A bid manager or an architect in this team may be working on a deal in France and on another deal in Sweden at the same time and may be working on yet another deal in Germany the month after. This depends on which deals are active and which specialization is needed.

This means that a lot of different activities need to happen from a finance perspective:

  • Budgets need to be defined and setup per country and for the region as a whole
  • Actuals need to be tracked and deviations need to be analyzed and explained
  • Tracking happens both on a consolidated level and in the countries
  • Time sheeting needs to be consolidated where needed
  • The time that people work on bids needs to be cross charged to the correct country
  • The overhead and underutilized needs to be split between countries based on an agreed methodology
  • Rates for the team members need to be reviewed and discussed in the countries
  • Communication across countries on progress and forecast

This is of course done together with the business, in this case the Head of Presales Continental Europe and the Head of Bid Management in Continental Europe.
