MISSION CONTRIBUTION:  Work performed supports the mission of "securing the future for Ohio's police and firefighters" by ensuring the performance of OP&F's systems and information infrastructure.  As a result, information and systems used to process police and fire members' benefits and to run OP&F operations are guarded for confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

SUMMARY:  The Business Analyst (BA) is the primary interface and interpreter between software developers, management, and end-users, collecting and analyzing data for business process improvements. The Business Analyst is or supports the project manager for multi-disciplinary project development teams, including end-users, coordinating existing process analysis and application improvements, translating user needs into system requirements, and coordinating and tracking approved projects through design, implementation, testing and acceptance. The Business Analyst documents project progress, tracks change requests and maintains procedures. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
•    Collect, analyze, and organize data and information into application requirements.
•    Interpret and translate end-user business requirements into application requirements.
•    Identify gap analyses between existing applications and end-user requests.
•    Recommend additional improvements and business processes.
•    Coordinate, prioritize, and track change requests.
•    Coordinate acceptance testing.
•    Maintain procedures and training documentation.
•    Maintain proficiency in all software required for the position.
•    Comply with policies and procedures and recommend changes for approval as needed.
•    Work with all OP&F staff, departments, and divisions to deliver high quality service.
•    Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and/ or Experience: 
Bachelors degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university with a minimum of 
4 years related work experience desired. 


Certificates, Licenses, Registration: 
International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA) certification preferred 

Language Skills: 
Ability to listen and communicate clearly and to respectfully and concisely present complex information to individuals and groups. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations. Ability to write routine reports, correspondence, and procedures. 

Office Software Skills: 
Ability to use word processing software, basic features of spreadsheet software, and presentation software in work products. 

Mathematical Skills: 
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra. 

Reasoning Ability: 
Ability to solve practical problems and correctly deal with a variety of concrete variables. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. 


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk; hear; reach with hands and arms; use hands; work with a computer, monitor, and peripherals, sit/stand/walk; climb stairs; stoop; and lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
