Engineering Manager, Organizations (Auth0)

Okta’s Auth0 is an easy-to-implement authentication and authorization platform designed by developers for developers.  We make access to applications safe, secure, and seamless for the more than 100 million daily logins around the world. Our modern approach to identity enables this Tier-Ø global service to deliver convenience, privacy, and security so customers can focus on innovation.

The Organizations team is expanding Auth0 to help B2B SaaS applications easily manage access for their own customers and partners, at scale. We make it possible for enterprise SaaS users to log in with the right set of permissions within the right context, and for our B2B customers to onboard access for their customers easily. Our work is cross-cutting and always heavily customer driven.

We work in NodeJS (JavaScript and TypeScript) and use PostgreSQL for our data needs. Our services run on AWS and Azure and we lean heavily on containers for both our development and production needs.

• →Manage, mentor and coach a team of 9 remote engineers, with seniorities up to Staff Engineer level
• →Effectively partner with your Product Manager on planning and delivering the team’s quarterly and annual roadmap
• →Own and be accountable for the quality of the team’s technical estate, effectively managing technical debt, addressing security vulnerabilities and ensuring wider cross-team technical initiatives are delivered in a timely manner
• →Review, provide feedback and help steer the technical design of the features the team is delivering, ensuring these can meet the scale at which Auth0 is operating
• →Work with other engineering managers in the group to drive cross-team projects and leadership initiatives

• You effectively bridge the asks and needs of the business and the team itself with successful outcomes
• You are people-oriented,  and know how to best support your reports to elevate them to next levels of performance. You have experience growing engineers to the next level, and bringing off-track engineers back on track.
• You have worked on projects that required close collaboration with external teams, and have experience making those a success.
• You bring solid architectural knowledge, backed by experience in designing, implementing and evolving complex distributed systems. In particular, you can spot areas where scalability and performance might be affected.
• You know how to track and steer a project to successful and timely delivery.

• Knowledge of authentication protocols such as OAuth2, OIDC, SAML.
• Understanding of event-driven architectures, especially Apache Kafka.
