About the Role
~1 min readOur client is looking for a Lead Data Engineer who will take full ownership of an existing data product - ensuring data quality, driving improvements, and delivering new data requirements end-to-end.
This is not a pure infrastructure or heavy engineering role.
You will work with an already established data platform and be responsible for understanding the business context, prioritizing incoming requests, and ensuring high-quality, reliable data delivery.
Responsibilities

Own the data product end-to-end - from incoming requests to final delivery

Work closely with internal stakeholders to understand business needs and data requirements

Ensure data quality, consistency, and reliability across the platform

Analyze data and provide insights to support decision-making

Prioritize tasks and manage delivery in a structured and independent way

Coordinate work with a small team (1 data engineer)

Identify improvements in existing pipelines and data processes

Use the current data infrastructure to deliver new features and enhancements
Strong experience in Data Engineering or Analytics (4+ years)
Solid SQL skills and understanding of data modeling
Hands-on experience working with ETL pipelines in production
Strong analytical thinking and ability to work with business data
Experience working with stakeholders and translating requirements into data solutions
High level of ownership and self-organization
Ability to prioritize and deliver independently in a remote setup
Nice to Have

Freelance or remote work experience
Familiarity with modern data tools (Airflow, dbt, Spark, etc.)
Experience improving data quality or existing data processes
