Responsibilities

  • Design learning experiences that emphasize problem solving, creativity, collaboration, and ethical use of technology.

  • Use skills based learning progressions and standards to plan instruction, assess student learning, and provide feedback.

  • Integrate robotics and physical computing into appropriate courses and projects.

  • Differentiate instruction to meet varied learning needs, interests, and readiness levels.

  • Use assessment practices that focus on growth, reflection, and demonstrated skill development.

  • Advise a group of middle school students and support their academic and social growth.

  • Collaborate with faculty across divisions on curriculum design and vertical alignment.

  • Contribute to a culture of curiosity, inclusion, and continuous improvement.

  • Stay current with developments in computer science, educational technology, and pedagogy.

The ideal teacher centers students in the learning process and uses skills and standards to make learning goals transparent. Instruction values inquiry, iteration, and real world application. Lessons reflect awareness of the fast changing computer science field and support student ownership of learning.

Requirements

  • Degree in computer science, educational technology, or a closely related field.

  • Experience teaching computer science at the middle and/or upper school level.

  • Experience designing curriculum and assessments using skills and standards.

  • Strong foundation in programming concepts and computational thinking.

  • Experience with robotics and hands on learning tools.

  • Demonstrated ability to support diverse learners through inclusive instructional practices.

  • Commitment to collaboration and professional growth.

Nice to Have

  • Background in curriculum design and interdisciplinary work.

  • Experience advising or mentoring middle school students.

  • Interest in contributing to school wide conversations about skills based learning and assessment practices.
