Responsibilities
~2 min read- →Assist with teaching English language classes for players at varying levels at the DR Academy, supporting both group and individual instruction.
- →Teach internal high school courses using the Phillies high school curriculum, with an ability to teach Lengua Española and History and/or support Math and Science instruction.
- →Work closely with Lead Teachers and the DR LSE Coordinator to design English lesson plans aligned with Phillies ELL indicators and program goals.
- →Support Life Skills Lead Teacher on life skills workshops focused on personal, professional, and social development.
- →Support, facilitate, and attend extracurricular activities away from the academy, including off-site educational and enrichment experiences.
- →Participate in, co-chaperone, and help organize Student of the Month outings, cultural excursions, and community service events (at times during non-traditional work hours, including evenings and weekends).
- →Assist with administrative tasks, including tracking student progress, maintaining attendance records, preparing instructional materials, making copies for part-time teachers, and managing education supply inventory.
- →Support the administrative components of the high school program, including maintaining student documentation, completing graduation paperwork, and inputting grades into tracking spreadsheets.
- →Provide academic and organizational support to players enrolled in the high school program.
- →Brainstorm and contribute creative, innovative ideas to expand educational opportunities for players outside the classroom.
- →Collaborate with education staff, coaches, and academy leadership to ensure players’ academic and life skills needs are met.
- →Maintain flexibility to work non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by the baseball schedule.
Requirements

- Proficiency in both English and Spanish, with strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities.
- Passion for education and player development, with a genuine interest in supporting young athletes’ growth.
- Experience teaching, tutoring, mentoring, or working with student-athletes is preferred.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, sports-focused environment with evolving priorities.
- Demonstrates cultural awareness, adaptability, and a strong “feel” for the baseball academy environment.
- Proactive self-starter who can work independently, anticipate needs, and contribute solutions.
