Group HR Adviser

Pioneer Energy is seeking a Group HR Adviser to join our HR team and play a key role in enabling our people, leaders, and culture across the Pioneer Energy Group.
This is a full‑time position (40 hours per week), worked Monday to Friday, based in Alexandra, Central Otago.
The Role
Reporting to the Group HR & Compliance Manager, the Group HR Adviser provides professional, practical HR advice and support across the business. The role works closely with managers and staff, supports compliance and internal audit activities, and contributes to HR reporting, systems, and people initiatives.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing operational HR advice and support across recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and development
- Creating, reviewing, and maintaining job descriptions and supporting role evaluation processes (SP10)
- Preparing HR documentation including employment agreements, letters, and reports
- Supporting recruitment activities, including job advertising and candidate administration
- Maintaining HR information systems and employee data with a high level of accuracy and confidentiality
- Assisting with HR reporting, workforce metrics, surveys, and Board‑level reporting
- Supporting annual HR processes such as performance reviews and HR planning cycles
- Assisting with internal audits and compliance reporting, including People Asset Management Plan activities
- Supporting training coordination and learning records in collaboration with the HSW team
About You
You are an approachable and professional HR adviser who enjoys working closely with people and supporting a wide range of people-related matters. You bring care, discretion, and a calm practical judgement to your work.
You will ideally have:
- A tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Employment Relations, Business, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
- Demonstrated experience (typically 3–4 years) in an HR or people‑focused role
- Sound knowledge of New Zealand employment legislation and HR best practice
- Experience preparing HR documentation and supporting performance and development processes
- Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities
- Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills
- Confidence using HR systems, reporting tools, and Microsoft Office applications
