Your Mission:
Your mission as a Group Fitness Instructor is to create engaging, welcoming, and high-energy fitness experiences that members look forward to attending. You’ll lead 45-minute group fitness classes across Playbook-managed fitness centers in Chicago, creating an inclusive environment where members of varying fitness levels feel comfortable, motivated, and supported. Beyond delivering a great workout, you’ll help bring Playbook’s hospitality-first approach to fitness by building connection with members, creating positive energy in the space, and ensuring each class experience feels polished from start to finish.
  • Lead Engaging Group Fitness Classes: Deliver safe, effective, and motivating 45-minute classes that create a positive experience for participants across varying fitness levels.
  • Create an Inclusive Member Experience: Welcome participants, build rapport, and foster an environment where members feel comfortable, encouraged, and excited to return. Bring professionalism, reliability, and hospitality to every class and interaction with members, tenants, and the on-site team.
  • Prepare for Each Class: Arrive 10–15 minutes before the scheduled class time to prepare the space, organize equipment, and ensure everything is ready before members arrive.
  • Maintain a Safe Fitness Environment: Provide clear instruction, demonstrate proper technique, and offer appropriate modifications to support participant safety and different ability levels.
  • Support Class Cleanup: Remain approximately 10 minutes after class to organize equipment and leave the fitness space clean and ready for the next use.
  • Provide Flexible Class Coverage: Support morning, afternoon, or after-work classes across Playbook’s Chicago locations based on programming and coverage needs.
  • You have 1+ years of experience leading group fitness classes or comparable programming in a fitness center. Even better if you have corporate fitness or workplace wellness experience.
  • You hold a current Group Fitness certification from a nationally recognized organization, along with current CPR/AED certification. CPT certification is a plus.
  • You’re confident, engaging and motivating members of varying fitness levels, with strong communication skills and a hospitality-minded approach.
  • You’re tech-savvy and comfortable assisting members with class and training sign-ups through our technology platforms.
  • You’re available to teach morning, afternoon, and/or after-work classes based on coverage needs. Flexibility to teach across multiple Playbook locations throughout Chicago is a plus.
  • Interest and availability to provide occasional front desk coverage is a plus, but not required.
  • You must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Engaging Instruction: You bring energy, confidence, and clear direction to every class, creating an experience that keeps members engaged and motivated.
  • Hospitality & Member Experience: You understand that a great class goes beyond the workout. You build genuine connections, create a welcoming atmosphere, and make members feel supported from the moment they arrive.
  • Safety & Technical Knowledge: You prioritize proper technique, thoughtful programming, and appropriate modifications to deliver a safe and effective experience for participants.
  • Communication: You provide clear, approachable instruction and communicate professionally with members and the on-site Playbook team.
  • Reliability & Professionalism: You arrive prepared and on time, take ownership of your classes, and consistently represent Playbook with professionalism.
  • Adaptability: You’re comfortable working with different member populations, class needs, and locations while maintaining a consistently high-quality experience.
