About the Role

If you love building software, solving complex problems, and figuring out how to make applications faster, smarter, and easier to maintain, this may be the role for you.

Preferred Mortgage Services, LLC (PMSI) is looking for an experienced Senior .NET Developer to join our technology team in Henderson, Nevada. You’ll work on our proprietary cloud-based platform and help build and enhance applications that support complex financial data, workflows, reporting, automation, and business processes.

This is not a role where you'll spend your day making minor changes to someone else's code. We're looking for a strong, hands-on developer who enjoys getting into the details while also thinking about architecture, system design, performance, scalability, and the bigger picture.

You'll work with C#, modern .NET, SQL Server, APIs, cloud technologies, and modern front-end frameworks while collaborating closely with our Business Analysts, developers, and subject matter experts.

We're also actively exploring automation and AI-assisted development, so you'll have opportunities to work with new tools while helping us modernize and expand our technology.

What You’ll Be Doing

Build & Enhance Applications

  • Design, develop, test, and support client-facing and internal applications using C# and modern .NET technologies.
  • Build and maintain RESTful APIs, services, integrations, and distributed application components.
  • Work with SQL Server and complex data to support business-critical applications and workflows.
  • Develop solutions that are reliable, scalable, secure, and maintainable.
  • Troubleshoot challenging application and production issues and solve the underlying problem, not just the symptom.

Design & Modernize

  • Contribute to application architecture, system design, and technical decisions for new features and capabilities.
  • Help modernize existing and legacy applications while preserving important business logic and functionality.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify architecture, improve performance, and make applications easier to support.
  • Work with modern front-end technologies such as React or Angular.
  • Support cloud-based development and deployment using AWS and/or Azure.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, CI/CD, and development standards.

Automate & Explore What’s Next

  • Find opportunities to automate manual processes and improve development and operational efficiency.
  • Use AI-assisted development tools and coding agents to support coding, analysis, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation.
  • Review, test, and validate AI-generated code before implementation.
  • Help identify practical ways to incorporate AI and automation into applications and development workflows without sacrificing security, accuracy, or code quality.
  • Stay curious about new technologies while knowing when a proven solution is the better answer.

Work With the Business

You won't be developing in a silo. You'll work closely with our Business Analysts, Operations teams, developers, and subject matter experts to understand how the business actually works and turn complex requirements into practical technical solutions.

We're looking for someone who can ask good questions, challenge an approach when there may be a better solution, explain technical concepts clearly, and work collaboratively with both technical and non-technical teams.

What We’re Looking For

  • 8+ years of professional software development experience, with substantial recent hands-on experience using C# and .NET.
  • Strong experience with modern .NET/.NET Core, ASP.NET Core, REST APIs and Web API.
  • Strong Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL skills, including complex queries, stored procedures, data access, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
  • Experience developing scalable, reliable, high-volume production applications.
  • Experience with distributed systems, service-oriented architecture, or microservices.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS or Azure in a production environment.
  • Experience with a modern front-end framework such as React or Angular.
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, system design, application performance, testing, security, and maintainable development practices.
  • Experience with Git-based source control, CI/CD, Agile/Scrum, and modern software-development practices.
  • Ability to independently investigate complex technical problems, understand existing code and business logic, and recommend practical solutions.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with developers, Business Analysts, Operations, and other stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Engineering, or a closely related technical field. Equivalent relevant education and professional experience may be considered.

Even Better If You Have

Experience in financial services, mortgage servicing, banking, fintech, payments, insurance, or another data-intensive or regulated environment would be valuable, but it isn't required.

We'd also love to see experience modernizing legacy .NET applications; high-volume transactional or analytical systems; ETL or data integration; MongoDB or other NoSQL technologies; AI-assisted coding tools or development agents; or experience serving as a technical lead or mentoring other developers while remaining hands-on.

Why This Role Is Different

PMSI is a smaller technology organization working on some very complex problems. That means you won't be developer #247 working on one tiny piece of a giant application.

You'll have the opportunity to understand the business behind what you're building, work directly with the people using the technology, contribute to technical and architectural decisions, and see the impact of your work.

We're also in an active period of technology growth and modernization, with significant initiatives involving our proprietary platform, data, automation, application modernization, and AI.

If you enjoy being hands-on, solving hard problems, improving existing systems, and building what comes next, we'd like to hear from you.

Work Environment

This position is based in our Henderson, Nevada office. Our current schedule is onsite Monday through Thursday, with Friday remote after training and once the employee is working independently.

Because close collaboration with our Development, Business Analyst, and Operations teams is an important part of the role, local Las Vegas/Henderson candidates are strongly preferred. Relocation assistance may be available.

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States without employer or third-party sponsorship, now or in the future. PMSI does not provide visa sponsorship and does not accept C2C arrangements, third-party employment, or agency submissions. No third-party recruiters, please.
