Responsibilities

Additional coursework may include teaching in SOC's media arts core curriculum for Bachelor of Fine Arts programs. The successful candidate will also mentor undergraduate and graduate students. Candidates are expected to maintain an active understanding of current industry best practices and technology. Preference will be given to candidates with a track record of success in working with diverse communities of clients, students, and colleagues.
Point Park's collective bargaining agreement requires faculty members to teach three graduate classes or four undergraduate classes per semester. There are opportunities for course releases for scholarly activity and service to the university.
Qualifications
The lecturer or professor of practice in graphic and interactive design will:
- →Have an earned MFA in graphic design or media arts, an MBA, or an MA in Mass Communication or a related field
- →Have five years of professional work experience in graphic and interactive design or an artistic position.
- →Have the ability to teach courses in Graphic Design, Interactive Design, Branding, Typography, Professional Practices.
- →Have experience mentoring undergraduate and graduate students.
Located in the heart of Downtown Pittsburgh, Point Park University is a dynamic, urban, university with a strong liberal arts tradition. Founded in 1960, Point Park enrolls nearly 4,000 full-time and part-time students in more than 100 undergraduate, master's, and doctoral programs.
SOC offers undergraduate Bachelor of Arts degrees in broadcasting, digital journalism, multimedia, public relations, advertising and social media, and sports communication. It also offers Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees in graphic and interactive design and photography.
