Special Education Tutor (Part Time, K-8)

Prep Academy Tutors is a private in-home and online tutoring company. We deliver flexible and personalized tutoring programs to our Philadelphia, Pennsylvania students. We specialize in all subject areas and cater to kindergarten through 12th grade students. We hire only the best-certified teachers and Subject Matter Experts or those completing their degree in Education.

We have an immediate need for an experienced Special Education teacher or tutor. The ideal candidate will have a strong command of supporting neurodivergent learners and a passion for teaching students at various grade levels.

Responsibilities include:

• Provide academic support to students based on expertise and knowledge of the state curriculum.
• Develop and deliver skill-appropriate lesson plans.
• Provide supplemental assignments to help promote greater understanding of the material.
• Offer remedial and enrichment support.
• Communicate with parents or guardians to discuss student progress.
• Provide a customized approach tailored to the individual needs of each student.

We are looking for certified teachers, subject matter experts (Masters Students, PhD Students, Engineers, etc.), or soon-to-be teachers who can meet the following criteria:

• Experience teaching Special Education is strongly preferred.
• Energetic and enthusiastic educators.
• Committed to providing excellent customer service.
• Enjoy working with students and families.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to adapt to a wide range of learning styles and student needs.

A qualified applicant will have a bachelor’s degree and will also meet at least one of the following criteria:

• You hold a valid Pennsylvania State teaching certificate or the equivalent thereof
• You are a current student teacher pursuing a teaching certificate
• You have two or more years of experience as a private or charter school classroom teacher
• You have experience as a lecturer/course instructor at an accredited U.S. University or College
• You are a Master's/PhD student with experience as a teaching assistant at an accredited U.S. University or College
