We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Adult Mental Health Speech and Language Therapist to join a specialist mental health service in London. This is an excellent locum opportunity for a Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist looking to work within multidisciplinary mental health teams, supporting adults with a range of communication and swallowing needs.
The successful candidate will primarily be based within Lakeside Mental Health Unit, with opportunities to work across additional mental health units in Ealing and Hounslow. You will play a key role in assessing, diagnosing, and managing communication difficulties associated with complex mental health conditions, contributing to person-centred care and positive patient outcomes.
Responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose, and manage adults presenting with speech, language, communication, and swallowing difficulties within mental health settings.
• Deliver evidence-based Speech and Language Therapy interventions tailored to individual patient needs.
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to support assessment, treatment planning, and recovery-focused care.
• Provide specialist advice and recommendations to healthcare professionals, patients, families, and carers.
• Support patients with communication strategies to enhance engagement in therapeutic activities and decision-making processes.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records in line with HCPC and local service standards.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, ward rounds, and service development initiatives where appropriate.

• A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).
• Current HCPC registration.
• Membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).
• Previous experience working as a Speech and Language Therapist with adult clients.
• Experience working within mental health, neurorehabilitation, learning disability, or related adult services is desirable.
• Strong communication, assessment, and clinical reasoning skills.
• The ability to work independently and effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
