We are currently seeking an experienced and dedicated Speech and Language Therapist (SALT) to join a clinical team in the East Midlands on a locum basis. This role offers the opportunity to work across a varied caseload, supporting patients with complex communication and swallowing needs in both acute and community settings.

The successful candidate will have significant experience in the assessment and management of dysphagia, particularly in patients with conditions including stroke, dementia and frailty. You will be required to travel to patients' residences, including care homes and patients' own homes, within the East Staffordshire area, as well as providing Speech and Language Therapy input on acute medical wards.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Band 6 or Band 7 therapist looking for a flexible locum position where they can use their clinical expertise across a diverse caseload.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

• Assess, diagnose and manage patients presenting with dysphagia and associated communication needs.
• Provide specialist dysphagia assessment and intervention for patients with conditions including stroke, dementia and frailty.
• Deliver Speech and Language Therapy services across acute medical wards and community settings.
• Travel to patients' own homes and care homes within the East Staffordshire area.
• Develop and implement individualised treatment and management plans based on patients' clinical needs.
• Work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality, patient-centred care.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records in line with professional standards.
• Use electronic patient records (EPR) to document assessments, interventions and clinical outcomes.

To be considered for this role, you must have:

• A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).
• HCPC registration and eligibility for membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).
• Significant experience in the assessment and management of dysphagia.
• Experience working with patients with stroke, dementia, frailty and other complex medical conditions.
• Experience working within an acute medical environment.
• Ability and willingness to travel to patients' homes and care homes within the East Staffordshire area.
• Experience using Electronic Patient Records (EPR) systems is desirable; training on the local system will be provided.
• Excellent communication, organisation and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
