Job Title: Paediatric Acute Speech and Language Therapist 
Banding: Band 6 
Start date: ASAP 
Duration: 3months 
Location: London 
Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30-4:30 or 9:00-5pm 
Rate: £28- £32

 We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Paediatric Acute Speech and Language Therapist to join our team in London. The post-holder will provide assessment, differential diagnosis, and programmes of intervention for children and teenagers. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of instrumental assessments of swallowing and may be competent in procedures such as video fluoroscopy and tracheostomy management. This role includes providing input for children and teenagers with tracheostomies, including in-reaching into the adult ICU for older teenagers, and supporting children on both curative and palliative pathways.

Responsibilities:
As a Paediatric Acute Speech and Language Therapist, you will be responsible for providing assessment, differential diagnosis, and programmes of intervention. You will have a strong knowledge of instrumental assessments of swallowing and may be competent in procedures such as video fluoroscopy and tracheostomy management. The role includes input for children and teenagers with tracheostomies, including in-reaching into the adult ICU for older teenagers, and supporting children on both curative and palliative pathways. You will work closely with patients, their families, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree in Speech and Language Therapy
  • HCPC registration
  • NHS experience preferred – if no NHS experience, must be compatible with NHS acute hospital environment
  • Must be acute paediatric dysphagia competent
  • Significant clinical experience working in a relevant specialist field (e.g., head & neck, neuro, oncology, acute paediatric dysphagia)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Commitment to continuous professional development
