Responsibilities
~1 min readAs a Consultant in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in the UK, your responsibilities are both broad and specialised. You are primarily responsible for providing expert clinical assessments and diagnoses for children and adolescents experiencing complex mental health issues. This involves leading and overseeing the development of comprehensive treatment plans and therapeutic interventions. You are expected to manage and support multidisciplinary teams, ensuring effective collaboration between various healthcare professionals, including psychologists, social workers, and nurses.
In addition, you play a key role in supervising and mentoring junior staff and trainees, contributing to their professional development. You also engage in regular MDT (Multidisciplinary Team) meetings to discuss patient progress, share insights, and adjust treatment strategies as necessary. Furthermore, you may be involved in service development and quality improvement initiatives, aiming to enhance the overall effectiveness and efficiency of CAMHS services.
Requirements
~1 min read- You must have a full GMC licence to practice
- 2 years working experience in CAMHS as a specialist doctor or consultant level
- 6 years experience in Psychiatry and 12 years experience in MBBS
- Section 12/RC approval is essential
- Approved clinician status is desired but not essential
