Job Title: Locum Speech and Language Therapist – Neonatal Service
Banding: Band 6/7
Location: Queen Mary’s Hospital, St Helier (with occasional home visits to Epsom)
Start Date: ASAP
Salary: £24.00 - £32.00 per hour
Working Hours: Part time – 3 days per week
Contract Length: 3 months

We are currently seeking an experienced and compassionate Speech and Language Therapist (SALT) to join a specialist neonatal service based across Queen Mary’s Hospital, St Helier, with occasional home visits to Epsom. This locum opportunity is ideal for a Band 6 or Band 7 therapist with experience working within neonatal settings who is confident working independently.

The successful candidate will provide specialist assessment and intervention for babies and families, supporting communication, feeding, and swallowing needs within a multidisciplinary healthcare environment. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by delivering high-quality, patient-centred care across hospital and community settings.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:
• Assess, diagnose, and provide specialist Speech and Language Therapy support for neonatal patients.
• Manage a clinical caseload independently, delivering evidence-based assessment and intervention.
• Provide specialist advice and guidance to families and wider multidisciplinary teams.
• Complete accurate clinical documentation and maintain records in line with professional standards.
• Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals across hospital and community settings.
• Participate in service development and contribute to maintaining high standards of patient care.

To be considered for this role, you must have:
• A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).
• HCPC registration and eligibility for membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).
• Previous experience working within neonatal Speech and Language Therapy services.
• Ability to work independently and manage a clinical caseload effectively.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• A proactive and adaptable approach to delivering high-quality care.
