Compensation: Starting at $80,000 annually, with higher compensation available based on experience

We are seeking a motivated Electrical Design Engineer to support the development, enhancement, and ongoing support of power distribution and power protection equipment. This role will contribute to product design, technical documentation, testing, troubleshooting, and certification activities while working closely with engineering and manufacturing teams.

The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in electrical engineering principles and an interest in designing products that support critical power distribution applications.

  • Support the electrical design of power distribution and power protection products.
  • Select electrical components and assist with system architecture, interconnection design, and mechanical integration.
  • Develop power and control circuit designs for switchboards and related equipment.
  • Apply engineering knowledge related to analog circuits, digital circuits, magnetics, and thermal performance.
  • Create technical specifications and design requirements for electrical products and systems.
  • Support the integration and qualification of third-party components and devices.
  • Create and maintain engineering documentation including:
    • Bills of Materials (BOMs)
    • Electrical schematics
    • Design specifications
    • Technical reports
    • Contribute to customer documentation, manufacturing instructions, and product test procedures.
    • Participate in design reviews and provide technical input to improve product performance and reliability.
  • Support product validation and hardware review activities.
  • Perform hands-on troubleshooting of electrical systems and subsystems.
  • Assist with problem resolution for both newly released and existing products.
  • Support sustaining engineering efforts for current product lines.
  • Participate in laboratory testing and performance evaluation activities.
  • Support product certification efforts with nationally recognized testing laboratories (NRTLs).
  • Assist with compliance activities involving:
  • UL standards
  • CSA standards
  • EC standards
  • Help ensure products meet safety, performance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE).
  • Experience using AutoCAD or similar CAD drafting software.
  • Experience designing power distribution equipment such as:
    • Power Distribution Units (PDUs)
    • Static Transfer Switches (STS)
    • Remote Power Panels (RPPs)
    • Switchboards
  • Experience using common electrical engineering test equipment including:
    • Oscilloscopes
    • Network analyzers
    • Signal generators
    • Knowledge of three-phase electrical systems and power distribution applications.
    • Strong technical writing, documentation, and communication skills.
    • Hands-on laboratory experience.
    • Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities.
    • Experience working with power protection equipment or critical power systems is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to engineering quality.
  • Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment.
  • Interest in product development, testing, and continuous improvement.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a practical approach to engineering challenges.
