✓Develop mechanical designs and layouts for low-voltage switchgear assemblies in accordance with UL 891 standards

✓Design enclosure structures, internal compartments, breaker mounting systems, and cable management layouts

✓Produce detailed fabrication drawings, including general arrangements, sheet metal components, weldments, and bills of materials (BOMs)

✓Ensure designs meet applicable codes, internal standards, and manufacturing requirements

✓Collaborate with electrical engineers to align mechanical configurations with one-line diagrams, bus layouts, and cable routing needs

✓Support design-for-manufacturing (DFM) and design-for-assembly (DFA) initiatives

✓Participate in design reviews, resolving issues related to clearances, interferences, and serviceability

✓Provide engineering support during production, testing, and inspection phases

✓Contribute to cost optimization and value engineering efforts

✓Maintain strong ownership of deliverables in a fast-paced, production-driven environment

✓Travel occasionally to support project coordination or supplier interaction

✓Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience

✓3–8+ years of experience in mechanical design of low-voltage switchgear

✓Direct, hands-on experience designing UL 891 switchgear (required)

✓Ability to independently execute switchgear designs from concept through production

✓Strong knowledge of: Enclosure and structural design

✓Breaker mounting and compartment layouts

✓Bus compartment separation and clearance requirements

✓Cable entry, routing, and accessibility

✓Ventilation, cooling, and arc containment considerations

✓Experience supporting compliance documentation and UL inspection processes

✓Proficiency with CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Inventor

✓Solid understanding of sheet metal fabrication, weldments, and manufacturing processes

✓Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy

✓Effective collaboration and communication skills

✓Accurate, compliant switchgear designs delivered on schedule

✓Seamless transition from design to manufacturing with minimal rework

✓Effective coordination with electrical engineering and production teams

✓Proactive ownership of projects while maintaining quality and compliance standards
