We are looking for a skilled Metal Fabrication Technician to build and assemble custom steel products in a fast-paced fabrication shop. This position focuses on producing rail systems, stair assemblies, ladders, and other miscellaneous metal components while maintaining high standards for quality, safety, and craftsmanship.
The ideal candidate is comfortable reading fabrication drawings, working with production equipment, and adapting to changing priorities in a manufacturing environment.
Fabricate and assemble railings, stair systems, ladders, and miscellaneous steel products using shop drawings and fabrication specifications.
Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, job travelers, and work orders to ensure accurate production.
Perform layout, measuring, cutting, fitting, welding, grinding, and finishing operations.
Operate fabrication equipment including saws, shears, press brakes, welding machines, and other metalworking tools while following safe operating procedures.
Inspect completed work for proper dimensions, fit, finish, and overall quality before release.
Work closely with supervisors, engineers, and production team members to complete projects efficiently and on schedule.
Help identify production challenges and recommend practical fabrication solutions.
Maintain quality workmanship while meeting production deadlines and adjusting to changing workloads.
Keep workstations clean, organized, and compliant with shop safety standards.
Move between projects as production priorities change while maintaining productivity and attention to detail.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous experience fabricating miscellaneous metals, railing systems, or similar steel products.
Proficiency in Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW); welding certifications are a plus.
Ability to read and interpret fabrication blueprints, shop drawings, and technical specifications.
Strong understanding of fabrication methods, measuring tools, and shop equipment.
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding work in an industrial setting.
Team-oriented mindset with the flexibility to work in a fast-paced production environment and shift between assignments as needed.
Indoor fabrication shop with exposure to welding fumes, dust, paint vapors, exhaust, and industrial noise.
Regular work around moving machinery, electrical equipment, and material handling operations.
Early morning weekday schedule with occasional overtime and weekend work based on production demands.
Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, protective footwear, and appropriate shop attire.
Long pants are required at all times while working on the shop floor.
