Responsibilities
~2 min read- →Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks across functional, integration, and regression layers.
- →Shift quality left by embedding in feature squads contributing to testable design, acceptance criteria, and code reviews.
- →Own test automation integration within CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, CodePipeline, Jenkins).
- →Champion testing standards, patterns, and reusable tooling across engineering teams.
- →Define and own the performance testing strategy covering load, stress, soak, spike, and chaos scenarios.
- →Establish SLO/SLA baselines in collaboration with Engineering, Product, and Platform teams.
- →Author performance testing standards and runbooks for org-wide adoption.
- →Build and maintain performance test suites using k6, Gatling, or Locust scripted, version-controlled, and CI-integrated.
- →Model realistic traffic patterns, data volumes, and concurrency profiles against AWS-hosted services.
- →Design tests targeting API Gateway, Lambda cold starts, ECS/EKS container throughput, RDS/Aurora query latency, and SQS/SNS queue depth under load.
- →Profile Lambda execution duration, memory utilization, and concurrency limits.
- →Evaluate RDS/Aurora connection pool exhaustion, slow query patterns, and read replica lag under load.
- →Automate baseline comparison runs on every release candidate; surface regressions before they reach staging.
- →Integrate AWS Load Testing solutions (e.g., Distributed Load Testing on AWS, Artillery Cloud) for large-scale test execution.
- →Deliver clear, business-contextualized performance reports to engineering leadership translating p99 latency and error rates into user and revenue impact.
- →Maintain a performance health dashboard (CloudWatch dashboards or Grafana) visible to all engineering stakeholders.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years in software test automation with focus in performance engineering
• Proficiency in Python or JavaScript.
• Basic understanding of unit testing frameworks such as PyTest, Mocha, or Jest.
• Exposure to API testing tools such as Postman or REST Assured.
• Knowledge of Git or GitHub.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or Jenkins.
• Solid understanding of cloud platforms (AWS or Azure) and containerization (Docker).
RAPP's current hybrid model is designed to enable in-person connections and collaboration that is core to our culture, while also supporting flexibility for all employees. As such, we have the option to work from home two days per week, if we'd like.
