This role provides technical customer support and integration services for DroneCore's family of drone platforms, including the M1 and M2 systems. The Applications Engineer serves as a critical bridge between customers and DroneCore's engineering team, helping customers successfully integrate payloads, configure systems, and deploy drone solutions for their specific applications. This position focuses on customer-facing technical problem-solving, integration testing, and supporting customers through their architectural designs and operational deployments.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Assist customers with the integration of custom payloads, sensors, and companion computers (eg. Raspberry Pi, NVIDIA Orin GPU, Qualcomm SnapDragon) into M1 and M2 drone platforms
- →Support customers with architectural designs and system configuration to meet their specific mission requirements
- →Manage and maintain software and firmware builds for customer deployments, working closely with the Re:Build member site teams as needed
- →Provide technical support for customers implementing PixHawk compliant payloads and accessories
- →Support autopilot builds for customers to include PX4, Ardupilot, Betaflight, and others
- →Conduct benchtop testing, integration testing, and assist with flight testing to validate customer configurations
- →Create and maintain integration documentation, user guides, and video tutorials for the DroneCore platform
- →Solve technical issues and provide timely solutions to customer challenges
- →Collaborate with the engineering team to capture customer requirements and feedback for product improvements
- →Support the development and maintenance of DroneCore's GitHub repositories and API documentation
- →Travel to customer sites and Re:Build offices for integration support and training
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Engineering, Robotics, or related technical field required or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 2-5 years of experience with autonomous systems, drones, robotics, or related applications preferred
- Experience with open-source flight control systems (e.g., ArduPilot, PX4) is a plus
- Hands-on experience with electronics integration, embedded systems, or hardware prototyping preferred
- Familiarity with defense or commercial drone applications is beneficial
