Principal Solutions Architect

We are looking for a Principal Solutions Architect based in Shanghai to support our Sales team and work directly with semiconductor and strategic customers. You will help customers define and evaluate solutions for graphics, compute and AI/ML applications using IMG's GPU IP. Acting as the technical lead throughout the pre-sales process, you will translate customer workloads and system requirements into the appropriate IMG solution, qualify technical fit and risk, and help move opportunities from discovery through technical selection. You will work closely with Sales, Application Engineering and Product Management, together with IMG experts across hardware, software, functional safety and other disciplines globally.

You will:

• Lead technical discovery with customers, understanding their target applications, workloads, performance requirements, product roadmaps and ASIC system considerations.
• Translate graphics, compute and AI/ML workloads into GPU requirements, including performance, power, area, memory bandwidth, latency, interconnect and software considerations.
• Guide customers through GPU selection and configuration, clearly explaining the technical and commercial value of IMG's IP.
• Qualify the technical credibility of opportunities by identifying evaluation criteria, competitive alternatives, technical gaps, risks, program dependencies and agreed next steps.
• Lead customer technical meetings, workshops and presentations, communicating complex GPU and system concepts effectively to engineering and executive stakeholders.
• Serve as the primary pre-sales technical point of contact, addressing customer questions and objections with credible solutions and engaging IMG specialists when deeper expertise is required.
• Assess the customer's complete software environment, including operating systems, APIs, drivers and DDKs, hypervisors, middleware and application-porting requirements.
• Work closely with Sales and cross-functional teams to differentiate IMG's proposition, document customer requirements and convert technical engagement into qualified commercial opportunities.
• Manage multiple customer engagements and ensure an effective handoff from pre-sales evaluation into licensing, implementation and post-sales support, while staying current with GPU, AI and ASIC market developments.

You'll have:

• Deep understanding of GPU and SoC architecture across graphics, compute and AI/ML workloads, including performance, power, area, memory bandwidth and system-integration tradeoffs.
• Strong knowledge of GPU software stacks, including drivers and DDKs, Vulkan, OpenGL ES and OpenCL, together with Android, Linux, RTOS, hypervisors and software-porting considerations.
• Significant customer-facing semiconductor experience in IP, ASIC, SoC, processor-related technical sales, applications engineering or solution architecture.
• Proven technical discovery and solution-definition skills, with the ability to translate customer workloads into requirements, qualify technical opportunities and guide complex IP evaluations.
• Strong commercial awareness and close alignment with Sales, including competitive positioning and the ability to convert technical engagement into clear actions that advance an opportunity.
• Experience working with ASIC design teams and integrating complex processor or GPU IP into customer SoCs.
• Edge AI experience is highly desirable, including familiarity with tool flows, appropriate models and methodologies
• Excellent communication and presentation skills in Mandarin and English, with the ability to engage engineering teams, senior technical leaders and business stakeholders while managing multiple customer priorities.
