The successful candidate will provide comprehensive veterinary cardiology services within the SSVM Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital while contributing to clinical teaching, student mentorship, and continued service excellence.
The Cardiology Service is actively seeing patients and has established clinical workflows, referral relationships, and hospital support systems. The successful candidate will join a functioning specialty service with the opportunity to expand clinical capabilities, collaborate with colleagues, and contribute to the continued growth and success of the program.
As the DVM program matures, this position will include increasing opportunities for structured clinical teaching and supervision, with anticipated student involvement throughout the clinical curriculum. Previous academic experience is welcome but not required. We are seeking a collaborative cardiologist with excellent clinical skills, strong communication abilities, and enthusiasm for mentoring the next generation of veterinarians.

The Cardiology Service is supported by a multidisciplinary Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital equipped with:
- Advanced diagnostic imaging capabilities

- Clinical pathology support
- On-site pharmacy
- Anesthesia and pain management support
- Specialty consultation across multiple disciplines

Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Provide comprehensive cardiology consultation and treatment for companion animal patients
- →Perform advanced cardiovascular diagnostics and procedures
- →Collaborate with primary care and specialty clinicians to provide integrated patient care
- →Support communication and relationships with referring veterinarians
- →Participate in clinical teaching and mentorship of veterinary students, interns, residents, and veterinary technology students
- →Contribute to cardiology curriculum development and clinical skills training
- →Participate in quality improvement initiatives and service development
- →Engage in scholarly activity or clinical research consistent with individual interests
- →Contribute positively to a collaborative and supportive hospital culture

Requirements
~1 min read- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree
- Completion of a cardiology residency training program
- Board certification or board eligibility through the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) Cardiology or equivalent
- Eligibility for veterinary licensure in New Jersey
- Demonstrated expertise in companion animal cardiology
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary specialty hospital
- Strong interest in clinical teaching and mentorship
- Previous teaching, mentoring, or academic experience
- Interest in veterinary cardiology education
- Interest in clinical research or scholarly activity
- Experience developing clinical protocols or quality improvement initiatives
- Interest in advancing academic specialty practice within a collaborative environment
This is an open-rank faculty appointment (Instructor through Full Professor) available on either the Clinical Track or Tenure Track, depending on qualifications, experience, and professional goals.
