Homeschool Teacher / Educator

We are seeking a capable, emotionally mature, and engaging Homeschool Educator to teach a 12-year-old across all core subjects in a structured but supportive home-learning environment. The ideal candidate will balance academic excellence with mentorship, critical thinking, confidence-building, and personal development. This role requires an adaptable, organised, and relational professional who can make learning engaging without creating a rigid institutional atmosphere. This is a long-term commitment (2–5 years) suited for a mature individual who thrives working independently in a quiet, non-social environment. Key Responsibilities: Learning Management: Plan weekly lessons and learning objectives, adapt the teaching style to the student’s pace and strengths, track academic progress, identify learning gaps, and prepare assessments and revision schedules. Personal Development: Encourage independent learning habits, foster confidence and curiosity, instil discipline and accountability, and develop communication and critical thinking skills. Environment & Mentorship: Support emotional maturity and self-management while maintaining a calm, encouraging, and high-trust learning environment with healthy boundaries and consistency. Requirements Mature educator (30+) with a teaching qualification, educational background, or relevant homeschooling experience. First-language English speaker, fully fluent in Afrikaans (must be able to teach both languages). Experience with neurodivergent learners is highly preferred. Proactive self-starter with strong organisational, communication, and creative lesson-planning skills. Warm, patient, and emotionally intelligent, with a confident but non-authoritarian approach. Open-minded, strong, and healthy with an excellent track record for attendance. Must reside in or near the Brooklyn / Waterkloof area in Pretoria. Own transport and a valid driver’s licence are essential.
