Compensation package:
- Base Salary: $2,000 USD per month (gross; subject to applicable Belize income tax and Social Security deductions)

About the property: The Placencia Resort is a 90-room beachfront resort on Maya Beach along Belize's Placencia Peninsula, near the Belize Barrier Reef and the Maya Mountains. The resort offers one-, two- and three-bedroom accommodations, beachfront villas and suites, a pool with a swim-up bar, an overwater pier bar, a spa and a marina. Throughout 2027, the resort will undergo a full renovation and repositioning to an internationally recognized brand standard, while continuing to welcome guests with approximately 30 guestrooms, its food & beverage outlets, pool and spa.

Position Summary: The Operations Manager leads the day-to-day rooms operation of The Placencia Resort, including Front Office, Housekeeping and Maintenance, and supports the spa, pool and recreation areas. Reporting to the General Manager, this leader is responsible for guestroom cleanliness, working order and the guest experience from arrival to departure.
This is a hands-on role during an important period of change. The Operations Manager will help transition the resort to Remington Hospitality systems and processes, keep service standards high while the resort operates with about 30 guestrooms during the 2027 renovation, and prepare the team to deliver new brand standards at reopening. Candidates with hotel opening or transition experience, and who have helped build structure, processes, staffing and operational systems, will be prioritized.
Key Performance Indicators:
Performance will be measured against a combination of guest, operational, financial and team objectives, including:
- Guest satisfaction scores for room cleanliness, room working order and customer service
- Timely response to and resolution of guest feedback and service issues
- Completion of guestroom cleanliness inspections and preventive maintenance inspections
- Brand standards and quality assurance audit results
- Loyalty program enrollments
- Labour productivity and departmental expenses against budget
- Completion of required brand and compliance training by the rooms team
- Team member engagement, retention and development
Core Responsibilities
- Rooms Operations
- Direct the daily operation of Front Office, Housekeeping and Maintenance to deliver a clean, well-maintained and welcoming guest experience.
- Establish and maintain a guestroom inspection program, including regular housekeeping inspections of every room and preventive maintenance inspections, tracked in the hotel’s service optimization system.
- Review guestroom-level data and inspection results to identify trends and prioritize cleaning, maintenance and capital needs.
- Coordinate arrivals, room assignments and VIP and loyalty member planning with Front Office and Housekeeping.
- Oversee linen, guest supplies and operating equipment inventories and purchasing within budget.
- Support the spa, pool and recreation areas to ensure safe, clean and consistent guest experiences.
- Guest Experience & Service Recovery
- Engage with guests during their stay to gather feedback and resolve concerns before departure.
- Monitor guest satisfaction surveys, online reviews and guest messaging, and respond to service alerts within required timelines.
- Document compensation and service recovery actions in line with brand and company procedures.
- Promote the loyalty program and coach the team on enrollment and member recognition.
- Transition & Renovation Support
- Support the transition of rooms operations to Remington Hospitality and brand systems, including the property management system, standard operating procedures and reporting.
- Build and document departmental structure, staffing plans, schedules and procedures.
- Coordinate with the General Manager and renovation team on room availability, phasing and guest communication to protect the guest experience and team member safety.
- Prepare the rooms team to meet new brand standards, including onboarding and system training ahead of reopening.
- Team Leadership & Development
- Recruit, train, schedule and develop Front Office, Housekeeping and Maintenance team members.
- Ensure completion of required brand, service and compliance training, including annual human trafficking awareness training.
- Foster a culture of care, accountability, teamwork and open communication.
- Apply company policies and the Belize Labour Act fairly and consistently, partnering with Human Resources as needed.
- Financial, Safety & Compliance
- Manage rooms division labour, payroll and expenses against budget and forecast.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, hygiene and security standards, emergency procedures and local regulations.
- Participate in brand quality assurance audits and implement corrective action plans.
- Serve as Manager on Duty as scheduled.
Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies:
- 3–5 years of progressive rooms division or hotel operations leadership experience, preferably in a resort environment.
- Experience leading Front Office and Housekeeping; Maintenance or Engineering oversight is a plus.
- Hotel opening, transition or renovation experience strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated success establishing structure, processes, staffing and operational systems.
- Experience with international hotel brand standards, quality audits and guest satisfaction programs preferred.
- Working knowledge of property management and service optimization systems such as Opera and HotSOS, or similar platforms.
- Adaptable, resourceful and hands-on, with the ability to lead through change.
- Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Business or a related discipline preferred but not required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; Spanish is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to maintain staff and guest confidentiality at all times.
- Regular attendance according to established guidelines, with flexibility to work evenings, weekends and holidays based on business needs.
