Associate Chemist

• R&D Associate Chemist role is to give support to formula development considering a product brief.
• Collaborate in product brief definition and formula development in agreement with the manager and other team members.

• →LEAD FORMULATION WORK
  • →Propose and develop prototypes based on the brief discussed with mktg.
  • →Supervise formulation or other critical tasks to provide guidance.
  • →Run performance assessments: stability studies (including instrumental data) of new developments; define physical and chemical parameters of finished products by studying historical specification data.
  • →Design in vitro and vivo experiments to support development, claims, competitive understanding... Edit reports to share broadly (technical community and commercial).
  • →Manage salon testing and be accountable for all associated safety/regulatory requirements, as well as documentation of results. Analyze database of salon expert grading; run statistical assessment and make recommendations.
  • →Run competitive landscape monitoring and reports.
  • →Patent awareness to monitor relevant activity.
• →COLLABORATE IN NPD
  • →Determine completion timeline and monitor progress to ensure project is on track
  • →Report to Chemist and managers R&D project tracking for several projects.
  • →Manage proper documentation (systems, software and procedures).
  • →Request freedom to practice reviews, as well as regulatory/safety reviews. Follow through with cross functional departments for completion.
  • →Study different manufacturing process in laboratory to facilitate the scale up to production to give support to process development during industrial production.
  • →Maintain close liaison with qc to ensure the quality of the first’s productions.
  • →Edit technical documentation for new developments using SAP or other tools (ingredient list, regulatory approval, etc.).
• →COLLABORATE WITH POTFOLIO MAINTENANCE
  • →Keep portfolio maintenance: collaborate in cost savings and harmonization for all technical products. Propose formulas changes, according to the globalization strategy.
  • →Reformulate current formula to be adapted to regulatory and/or purchasing requirements.

• TECHNICAL MASTERY AND LEADERSHIP. Displays scientific curiosity, problem solving & decision making, as well as mature business/organization understanding.
• AGILITY, FLEXIBILITY AND ANTICIPATION TO ISSUES. In a highly changing environment. Performs a wide variety of complex, non-routine tasks (multifunctional work and exposure).
• WORKS WITH DISCIPLINE. Plans and follows through. Able to independently follow-up and keep track of the project activities.
• LEADERSHIP AND CREATIVITY. Independently analyzes and summarizes data. Proposes hypotheses and next steps. Often experiments require own, new designs of experiments and development of new methods.

• University degree in chemistry or similar discipline.
• Experience in research and Developments of Hair products.
• Expertise in research and developments of cosmetic products.
• Advanced level of written and oral English. Good skills in communication in English.
• Fluency in Microsoft Office Tools use.
