Our mission is to democratize finance for all. An estimated $124 trillion of assets will be inherited by younger generations in the next two decades. The largest transfer of wealth in human history. If you’re ready to be at the epicenter of this historic cultural and financial shift, keep reading.
We are building an elite team, applying frontier technologies to the world's biggest financial problems. We're looking for bold thinkers. Sharp problem-solvers. Builders who are wired to make an impact. Robinhood isn't a place for complacency, it's where ambitious people do the best work of their careers. We're a high-performing, fast-moving team with ethics at the center of everything we do. Expectations are high, and so are the rewards.
The Developer Infrastructure org is the engine behind Robinhood's entire engineering organization — a collection of tightly integrated teams whose collective mission is to make every engineer at Robinhood faster, more reliable, and radically more productive. The org spans three major teams: DevX (Developer Experience), Backend Platform, and Mobile Platform, each building and operating foundational systems that thousands of Robinhood engineers depend on every single day. DevX owns Robinhood's monorepo and Bazel-based build infrastructure — the critical layer between a developer writing code and that code being ready to ship — along with the company's full CI/CD pipeline, remote build execution cluster, and developer environment tooling. Backend Platform and Mobile Platform own the core language runtimes, libraries, IDEs, and developer toolchains across Python, Go, TypeScript, Swift, and Android that power Robinhood engineering at every level. Together, these teams are building toward an audacious goal: an engineering org operating at the frontier of developer velocity — including AI-powered agentic systems that dramatically multiply the output of every engineer.
As the Senior Staff Software Engineer, Developer Infrastructure, you are the technical driver of this entire org — the Uber Tech Lead unifying DevX, Backend Platform, and Mobile Platform under a single, cohesive technical vision. Your primary area of focus will be DevX: owning the technical direction of Robinhood's most critical developer infrastructure, including Bazel build systems, the monorepo, remote build execution, and CI/CD at scale. Beyond DevX, you will play a pivotal role in Robinhood's Agentic Developer Velocity initiative — partnering with AI and platform teams to architect intelligent coding agents and automated workflows that fundamentally change how engineers at Robinhood work. This is a rare opportunity to shape the technical foundation that the entire Robinhood engineering organization builds on!
This role is based in our New York City or Menlo Park office, with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week.
At Robinhood, we believe in the power of in-person work to accelerate progress, spark innovation, and strengthen community. Our office experience is intentional, energizing, and designed to fully support high-performing teams.
Responsibilities
~2 min read- →Own the technical direction and roadmap for the Developer Infrastructure org — serving as the Uber Tech Lead across DevX, Backend Platform, and Mobile Platform, unifying three engineering teams under a shared technical vision
- →Lead and evolve Robinhood's Bazel-based monorepo build infrastructure — own the remote build execution cluster, drive language-agnostic build optimization across Python, Go, TypeScript, and more, and ensure fast, stable feedback loops for the entire engineering org
- →Scale CI/CD pipelines to support thousands of daily builds with speed, safety, and reliability — overseeing GitHub repository configurations, pre-merge checks, and test execution infrastructure across the company
- →Drive Robinhood's Agentic Developer Velocity initiative as a key technical leader — partnering with AI and platform teams to architect intelligent coding agents, automated code review systems, and agentic workflows that significantly multiply engineer output
- →Set technical standards across Backend Platform and Mobile Platform — owning the vision for core language runtimes, libraries, IDE tooling, and developer environment security across Python, Go, TypeScript, and Mobile languages (IOS/Android)
- →Improve the developer onboarding and remote development experience — reducing time-to-first-commit and ensuring every engineer at Robinhood can code, build, test, and deploy with minimal friction
- →Partner with engineering leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to define and execute a long-term developer infrastructure roadmap that scales with Robinhood's growth
- 10+ years of software engineering experience with a demonstrated track record at the Senior Staff, Principal, or Distinguished Engineer level — you've set technical direction at the org or company level, not just the team level
- Deep expertise with Bazel and large-scale monorepo build systems — you've owned remote build execution infrastructure at scale and understand the architectural tradeoffs deeply
- Experience building and operating CI/CD pipelines at massive scale — across thousands of daily builds, multiple programming languages, and complex pre-merge pipeline logic
- Fluency in Go and/or Python; broad familiarity with TypeScript, IOS/Android development environments is a strong signal
- Strong background with distributed systems, Kubernetes, and cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred) — you understand the full stack of developer tooling from IDE to deployment
- Genuine interest in or hands-on experience with agentic AI systems, automated code review, or developer velocity programs — you see where software development is heading and want to help shape it
- Exceptional technical leadership, communication, and influence skills — you've unified cross-functional engineering teams around a shared vision and driven ambiguous, org-spanning initiatives to completion
- Track record of mentoring senior engineers and elevating the technical bar across large, diverse engineering organizations
