As an Engineering Manager of Data Services, you will be a trailblazer, building and leading a high-performing engineering team. Your team will initially focus on building a self-served, exa-byte scale Data Services for ingestion, stream data processing, serving. You will set a high technical bar, champion Roblox's leadership principles, and drive the delivery of innovative products that delight our users.

Set the Bar: Establish and maintain a high standard for technical excellence. Ensure your team delivers reliable, scalable, and secure solutions that adhere to Roblox's engineering principles.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with product managers,data engineers, data scientists and other stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions.
Strategic Planning: Contribute to the overall engineering strategy for Roblox. Find opportunities for innovation and growth, and prioritize projects that deliver the most value to our users.
Continuous Improvement: Foster a culture of learning and continuous improvement within your team. Encourage experimentation, knowledge sharing, and adoption of new technologies.

Proven Leadership: Demonstrated experience leading and scaling engineering teams, ideally in a high-growth environment.

2+ years of experience in engineering management - setting roadmap, charter, vision, key metrics for the engineering team

Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of data principles, architectures, and technologies.

8+ years of experience with big data tools and technologies like Kafka, Flink, Druid, Spark, optimized Sql, Map Reduce, HDFS, Hive
Experience with programming languages like Golang, Java, Python, Helm, Terraform
Experience working with Cloud providers like AWS - S3, EMR, EKS
A graduate degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field is a plus

For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits as described on this page.

Annual Salary Range

$295,250—$345,040 USD

Roles that are based in an office are onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional presence on Monday and Friday (unless otherwise noted).
